Kia is all set to debut its much-anticipated compact SUV, the Kia Syros, in India on December 19, 2024. Positioned between the Sonet and Seltos, this SUV aims to carve out a significant place in the fiercely competitive compact SUV segment, offering premium features at an attractive price, likely under Rs. 10 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Syros will be unveiled during the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo in Delhi, where its pricing details will also be revealed, adding to the excitement surrounding its launch.
Kia Syros Design: Bold and Boxy
The Kia Syros boasts a bold design that emphasizes a boxy silhouette with modern, sharp features. The SUV will sport a distinctive front profile with vertically stacked LED projector headlamps, complemented by sleek, vertically arranged LED DRLs. The upright pillars and flat roofline contribute to the spacious and airy cabin, providing ample headroom and practicality for both passengers and cargo. At the rear, L-shaped LED tail lamps flow seamlessly with the rear pillars, enhancing the SUV's boxy, utilitarian aesthetic.
Performance and Engine Options
Under the hood, the Kia Syros will be offered with two engine options. The first is a 1.0L turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine, which promises a balance of power and efficiency. The second is a 1.5L four-cylinder diesel engine, catering to those who prefer a diesel option for its higher torque and fuel efficiency. Both powertrains will come with a choice of transmission options: a six-speed manual and a dual-clutch automatic, ensuring smooth driving performance suited to various customer preferences.
Interior and Technology Features
Inside, the Syros will offer a premium cabin experience with high-tech features. It will be equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for seamless connectivity. The matching 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster ensures a modern, driver-focused cockpit.
Other highlights include ventilated front seats, an elegant layered dashboard, automatic climate control, and a panoramic sunroof, which is sure to attract customers looking for a touch of luxury in a compact SUV.
Safety and ADAS Technology
In terms of safety, the Kia Syros will come loaded with advanced features. It will be equipped with six airbags, ESC (Electronic Stability Control), EPB (Electronic Parking Brake), traction control, and a 360-degree camera system.
Additionally, the SUV will feature ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) technologies, enhancing the overall safety and driving experience.
Future Plans: Hybrid and Electric Variants
Kia has confirmed that the Syros will be the first in a new wave of compact SUVs, with hybrid and electric variants potentially in the pipeline. After the Syros' pricing announcement in January 2025, customer deliveries are expected to begin shortly after, with the vehicle likely making a strong impact on the growing compact SUV market.
The Kia Syros promises to offer a premium, feature-packed experience at an aggressive price point, targeting customers who desire both style and substance in their SUV. With its bold design, tech-heavy interior, and robust safety features, the Syros is poised to become a popular choice among Indian consumers looking for a compact SUV that offers value without compromising on luxury.
