Kia Ev9 Gt Line Awd To Electrify Indian Roads Set For October 3 Launch

Kia EV9 GT-Line AWD to Electrify Indian Roads: Set for October 3 Launch

Kia is all set to make waves in the Indian automotive market this festive season with the launch of the much-anticipated Kia EV9 GT-Line AWD. This will be India’s first electric three-row SUV, making its debut on October 3, 2024. Aimed at redefining the premium electric vehicle segment, the fully-loaded EV9 GT-Line AWD will arrive alongside the new Kia Carnival, adding excitement to Kia’s line-up in India.

The Premium GT-Line AWD Package

The EV9 GT-Line AWD is the top-tier variant, packed with nearly every feature Kia has to offer for this electric behemoth. On the exterior, the GT-Line package distinguishes itself with unique bumpers, stylish 21-inch GT-Line alloy wheels, and GT-Line badging at the rear. It stands as a statement of futuristic design and performance, ensuring a commanding presence on the road.

Inside, luxury takes centre stage with all-electric seating, including a lounge function for the second row, offering an upscale travel experience. The vehicle will likely come in a six-seat configuration for the Indian market, further enhancing comfort and space. Kia has left no stone unturned in making the EV9 a tech powerhouse, with features like multi-zone climate control, ventilated second-row seats, a 360-degree camera system, level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), automatic parking, and connected car technology.

Additional premium touches include a power boot opening, a full LED light package, and a choice of interior trims in black over white, navy blue with black, or brown with black, as seen in its home market. These touches ensure that the EV9 GT-Line AWD exudes sophistication and style both inside and out.

Powertrain and Performance

The Kia EV9 GT-Line AWD is not just about luxury—its performance is equally impressive. Under the hood (or rather, under the chassis), the EV9 is powered by a massive 99.9 kWh battery pack paired with dual electric motors that churn out 379 bhp and 700 Nm of torque. These figures allow the hefty SUV to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.3 seconds, with a top speed of 200 km/h.

In terms of range, the EV9 offers a respectable 445 km on a single charge, which is commendable for a three-row electric SUV. Fast charging is another strong suit, with the battery capable of charging from 10% to 80% in just 24 minutes using a 350 kWh charger. Kia is also expected to include a home wall box charger as part of the purchase package for Indian buyers, ensuring convenience for at-home charging.

Setting New Benchmarks

The Kia EV9 GT-Line AWD is expected to be priced between Rs 90 lakh and Rs 1.2 crore, making it the most expensive Kia model to be launched in India. The high price is partly due to it being a Completely Built Unit (CBU) and partly because of its top-spec nature, loaded with premium features. This high-end variant will set new benchmarks in the Indian electric vehicle market, especially in the three-row SUV segment.

The launch of the EV9 also sets the stage for Kia’s upcoming electric offerings, including the electric version of the Kia Carens, slated for launch in the first half of 2025. With the EV9, Kia is positioning itself as a serious contender in the premium electric vehicle space, delivering a product that promises to combine luxury, performance, and practicality in one sleek package.

Conclusion

With the festive season approaching, the Kia EV9 GT-Line AWD is ready to take Indian roads by storm. Offering unmatched luxury, state-of-the-art technology, and robust performance, this electric SUV is set to redefine the electric vehicle landscape in India. As the most premium Kia vehicle ever launched in the country, the EV9 marks a significant milestone in Kia’s journey towards electrification in the Indian market.
