Maruti eVX Set for Big Debut at Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025: Maruti's First EV to Revolutionize the Market

Maruti Suzuki, India's largest carmaker, is all set to enter the electric vehicle (EV) market with its much-anticipated Maruti eVX. The company will debut its first electric vehicle at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, which will be held in Delhi from January 17 to 22. As Maruti's first venture into the EV space, the eVX is expected to be a game-changer in the Indian electric car segment, competing with established players like Tata, MG, and Hyundai.

The Maruti eVX is not just another EV; it symbolizes the company’s leap into the rapidly growing electric vehicle market. The eVX made its initial appearance in concept form at the 2023 Auto Expo in India. Later, an evolved version was showcased at the Japan Mobility Expo 2023, hinting at what Maruti Suzuki has in store for its Indian consumers.

With production slated to begin at Suzuki’s Gujarat plant later in 2025, as confirmed by the President of Suzuki Motor Corporation, Toshihiro Suzuki, the Maruti eVX is set to be one of the most anticipated electric vehicles of the year. Maruti's decision to unveil the production-spec eVX at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 underscores the importance of this event for the brand and the Indian automotive industry.

Design and Features

The Maruti eVX is expected to come with a modern and futuristic design that will distinguish it from other Maruti models. Key design elements include a closed-off grille with distinctive Y-shaped LED DRLs and flush-type door handles, which enhance its aerodynamic profile. At the rear, connected LED tail lights give the eVX a sleek, premium appearance.

Inside, the eVX is likely to feature a high-tech, minimalist cabin, equipped with dual integrated screens – a design choice seen in many new-age electric vehicles. The interior design is expected to be clean and intuitive, with a focus on user-friendly interfaces and advanced tech features.

Powertrain and Range

Although official specifications are yet to be confirmed, the Maruti eVX is expected to come with a 60 kWh battery pack. This battery is expected to deliver a range of up to 550 km on a single charge, making it one of the longest-range EVs in its class. The eVX could also be offered with both single-motor two-wheel drive (2WD) and dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations, giving buyers the flexibility to choose between different performance levels.

Price and Competition

Maruti Suzuki is expected to price the eVX from Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it as a strong competitor in the mid-range EV market. This pricing strategy will pit the eVX against rivals such as the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, and the soon-to-be-launched Hyundai Creta EV. Additionally, it will be seen as a more premium alternative to popular models like the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400 EV.
