Hyundai Palisade Hybrid SUV Launching in India in 2028

Hyundai will launch the Palisade hybrid SUV as its flagship model in India by 2028. Equipped with hybrid technology, bold design, and premium features, the Palisade claims to rewrite the rules of full-size SUV luxury and will be highly competitively priced with local products connected to a global export.

In 2028, through the global export program from India, Hyundai Motor India will launch the most premium SUV in the Hyundai lineup, the Hyundai Palisade hybrid SUV, which is intended to propel the brand into the luxury SUV category.

Geared up to be the flagship of Hyundai's India portfolio, the Palisade will be bold, hybrid-powered, and feature-rich for its segment, and will see a direct aim as a rival to the unmatched Toyota Fortuner and Jeep Meridian.

Powerful and Efficient Hybrid Powertrain

The Indian-market Palisade will use Hyundai's new-generation hybrid system with a 2.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, fetching 334 hp and 460 Nm torque with an electric motor, which will be attached to a 6-speed automatic gearbox and FWD as standard, with optional AWD.

The figure to note is its 1,015km driving range and fuel economy of 14.1kpl, boasting a 45% fuel efficiency improvement over the standard 2.5L petrol engine. The Palisade incorporates Hyundai's e-Comfort Drive and e-Dynamic Drive systems to ensure smoother transitional rides and more responsive handling through both torque-vectoring and a more advanced grip plan.

Bold, Boxy, Range Rover-Inspired Exterior

The Palisade boasts a very tough stance using a familiar but hardly noticed boxier shape analogous to the Range Rover's more popular design language with the 21 inch 15-spoke alloy wheels, a great big grille, vertical LED head - and tail-lamps, and silver accents across the cladding, D-pillars, and roof rails.

Luxury-Coated Cabin and State-of-the-Art Technologies

Inside, the Palisade has three-row, optional captain seats and footrests, NeoDrive capabilities, dual 12.3-inch displays, a fingerprint-enabled ignition system, and a 14-speaker Bose audio system.

Other premium items include a 360-degree camera, in-vehicle dashcam, panoramic sunroof, vehicle-to-load (V2L) capabilities, ADAS, and wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay.

Projected Pricing and Market Position

Hyundai has plans to localise the Palisade’s manufacturing to achieve a projected pricing volume of between ₹40 lakh and ₹50 lakh (ex-showroom). It is anticipated that the SUV will be shipped to various countries from India, underlining Hyundai impacts its long-term premium brand strategy. With its introduction into this market, the Palisade will create a significant market position for Hyundai in the full-size luxury SUV category in India.
