Honda has made significant changes to its Amaze lineup. This is due to its new-generation model launch. With reports circulating about the development of the new iteration, Honda has decided to streamline its Amaze variants to just two trims - S and VX. This strategic move comes after the previous lineup featured four variants including the E, S, VX, and Elite Edition.
The Elite Edition, launched during the festive season last year, was a uniquely equipped variant based on the top-end VX trim. It also had additional features like a rear spoiler, illuminated sidestep, anti-fog film on the wing mirrors, and more, overall aiming for an enhanced driving experience. Additionally, the entry-level E variant, typically favored by fleet and cab operators, has been discontinued. This model catered to those seeking a no-frills option with a modest price tag starting at Rs 7.20 lakh (ex-showroom).
In terms of competitors, The Honda Amaze goes head-to-head with other sub-4-metre sedans like the Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Aura, and Tata Tigor in the market. Also, it stands out as the only model in this segment that does not provide the option of a factory-fitted CNG kit, which sets it apart in terms of fueling options.
Moreover, the reports suggest that the new-generation Honda Amaze is expected to launch in India around the festive season, possibly around Diwali later this year. Based on the City platform, which is shared with the Elevate model, the architecture will undergo modifications to meet the sub-4-metre requirements. The new Amaze is likely to offer similar power figures with 89 bhp and 110 Nm of torque expected to retain the current 1.2-liter naturally aspirated i-Vtec petrol engine. This goes along a 5-speed manual or a 7-step CVT automatic gearbox. Furthermore, the 1.5-litre i-Dtec diesel engine, discontinued last year, is unlikely to make a return with this new-generation model.
