Heres A Guide On How To Keep Your Car Cool At 50 Degrees

Here’s a guide on how to keep your car cool at 50 degrees

The country is currently experiencing a severe heat wave, with temperatures soaring to 50 degrees Celsius in many areas, including the national capital. Viral videos show water evaporating instantly when poured on steel wheels, highlighting the extreme heat. To help you stay cool, here are some essential tips for keeping both your car and yourself comfortable during these scorching conditions.

Ways you can keep your car cool:

  1. Keep Your Car Hydrated:

  2. Ensure your radiator is topped up with coolant.

  3. Check that engine, brake, and transmission oils are at optimal levels to help keep the car cool.

  4. Top-Up the AC Gas:

  5. Regularly service your air-conditioning system.

  6. Clean vents and pipes, ensure the fan is in good condition, and top up the AC gas to maintain a cool cabin.

  7. Check Tyre Pressure:

  8. Verify that your tire pressures are correct before driving and do this in the shade.

  9. Hot weather or driving can expand the air in your tires, making pressures seem higher. Do not release air as underinflation can cause the sidewall to flex more, generating heat that could lead to a blowout, especially in older tires.

  10. Park in the Shade:

  11. Find covered parking or a shaded spot to prevent the cabin from heating up under direct sunlight.

  12. Use a car cover and close all windows and sunroof shades, but leave windows slightly open for ventilation.

  13. Pre-Cool Your Cabin:

  14. If parked in the sun, be cautious when stepping in as the interior can be very hot.

  15. Use remote AC features or rapid cooling systems if your car has them to pre-cool the cabin.

  16. Let It Air Out:

  17. After starting your car, roll down the windows and run the AC to let hot air escape.

  18. Avoid setting the fan speed to max initially to prevent overburdening the system.

  19. Direct air vents at yourself and use cooled seats if available. Switch the AC to recirculation mode after some time.

Ways to keep your own self cool

  1. Stay Hydrated: Always carry water or a hydrating liquid with you, even for short trips. Avoid fizzy or energy drinks.

  2. Protect Yourself from the Sun: Use movable sunshades and sunroof blinds to block direct sunlight. Moreover, wear sunglasses, preferably with polarized lenses, to reduce glare and improve visibility.

  3. Stay Calm: Avoid getting stressed by traffic or other situations as it can increase your body temperature. Also, keep calm and try to maintain a relaxed state of mind while driving.

By following these tips, you can ensure a more comfortable and safer driving experience during this intense heat wave.
