Here Are Three Alternatives You Can Buy Instead Of The Maruti Suzuki Swift

Here are three alternatives you can buy instead of the Maruti Suzuki Swift

The Swift has a reputation in India as a favourite hot hatchback, known for its power delivery and lightweight construction that made it a fun and agile drive. Over time, the Swift has transitioned into a more family-friendly car, catering to a wider audience. However, for those seeking the performance aspect reminiscent of the earlier Swift, there are some used cars available that offer impressive power under Rs 6 lakh.

Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS:

Maruti Suzuki ventured into a different territory with the Baleno RS by equipping it with a 1.0-litre BoosterJet engine sourced from the Fronx. The brand not only incorporated the engine into the Baleno RS but also enhanced its dynamics to deliver a sportier driving experience. Despite the model's limited success, finding a used Baleno RS in good condition can be challenging. In the second-hand market, examples of the Baleno RS can be found priced around Rs 5 to 6 lakh.

Fiat Abarth Punto:

Before the Baleno RS, Fiat introduced the Abarth Punto in India, a true hot hatch featuring a 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine generating 140bhp and 200Nm of torque. The Abarth Punto boasted impressive performance with a sub-nine-second 0-100kmph acceleration time. The model's striking aesthetics and performance capabilities garnered attention, but like the Baleno RS, low sales resulted in limited availability of used units in the market.

Volkswagen Polo:

The Volkswagen Polo is a noteworthy addition to the list of affordable and powerful cars, with a strong legacy in the Indian market. The Polo offered various engine and transmission options, with the GT TSI variant standing out for its performance capabilities. Priced around Rs 5 lakh, 2014-15 models of the Polo in good condition can be found. Equipped with a 1.2-liter turbo engine producing 103bhp and 175Nm, the Polo GT TSI provides a spirited driving experience. Transmission choices include a 6-speed automatic or a 7-speed DSG, enhancing the overall performance. The Polo features essential amenities like an air conditioner, rear defogger, adjustable outside rearview mirrors, fog lamps, electronic stability control (ESC), anti-lock braking system (ABS), and hill hold control, ensuring a safe and enjoyable drive.
