The vehicle has been much anticipated for a lot of time, it is now time to feast our eyes on the same.
If the sources are to be believed, the 5-door Mahindra Thar is set to land its tyres in the month of February this year, in the Indian Market. The 3-door variant of the car has been hit throughout the country, getting the name of “Rowdy SUV”. With the launch of a 5-door variant, the fan-following is expected to increase and the car is set to be more family friendly.
The popular Mahindra Thar will soon have an extended five-door form that will be longer than four metres. This will put it between the Scorpio N and the top-of-the-line XUV 700. Prices for the Mahindra Thar five-door are likely to start at 14 lakh INR and go up from there.
A previously leaked picture of the Thar five-door's dashboard showed that the interior would not be black as usual, but would instead be brown. The cutout for the infotainment screen hints that the five-door model has a bigger system, but the layout is the same for both the three-door and five-door Thar models.
More information from spy photos shows that the five-door model has some small visual changes, such as a new front grille, updated front and back bumpers, new alloy wheels, and changed LED tail lights. The Thar five-door is also expected to have a sunroof with one pane of glass.
The three-door 4WD Thar and its five-door cousin will both come with the 2.0-liter mStallion turbo petrol engine and the 2.2-liter mHawk diesel engine options. But there may be differences in how the tuning is done for the five-door model to get better outputs. As standard, there will be a 4x4 engine with a low-range transfer case that can be used sometimes.
The Thar will still be an off-road vehicle with five doors because it is based on the third-generation ladder frame chassis that was first used in the Scorpio N in 2022. Along with MTV CL, Pentalink Rear suspension with WATT's Linkage, FDD, Double Wishbone Front suspension with Coil over Shocks, mechanical and brake locking differentials, and an electric shift-on-the-fly 4XPLOR 4x4 System with different terrain modes (sand, snow, gravel, and normal), the Mahindra Scorpio N has a lot of high-tech features. Off-road skills will likely be the same for the Thar five-door as well.
