Delhi Special Lok Adalat Set for July 12 to Clear Challans

Delhi's traffic offenders get a fresh window to clear pending challans as the Delhi State Legal Services Authority organises a special Lok Adalat across seven district courts on July 12, 2026, with online booking already open through the Delhi Police portal for compoundable cases.

  • The Delhi State Legal Services Authority will hold a special Lok Adalat on July 12, 2026, across seven district courts.

  • Only compoundable challans pending in the virtual court until March 31, 2026, will be taken up, with online slot booking open from July 6.

Motorists in the national capital with unresolved traffic challans have been handed a timely opportunity to clear their records. The Delhi State Legal Services Authority, working under the National Legal Services Authority, has announced a special Lok Adalat that will take place on Sunday, July 12, 2026.

The initiative comes as a direct response to the sheer volume of traffic challans that have piled up across the city, and it gives residents a structured, single-day window to resolve matters through mutual settlement rather than prolonged legal proceedings.

When And Where Will The Special Lok Adalat Be Held

The special sitting will run from 10 am to 4 pm and will be spread across all major district court complexes in Delhi. These include Tis Hazari, Rouse Avenue, Patiala House, Karkardooma, Rohini, Dwarka and Saket.

Motorists are advised to attend the specific court mentioned on their challan slip, since each location has been assigned based on the jurisdiction linked to the offence.

Which Traffic Challans Qualify For Settlement

Not every pending challan will be eligible. The Lok Adalat will only entertain notices that are compoundable in nature and that have been pending in the virtual court system up to March 31, 2026.

Typical offences falling under this category include speeding, incorrect parking, jumping a red light, and riding or driving without a helmet or seatbelt. Anyone carrying one of these older, unresolved notices stands to benefit from the day's proceedings.

How To Download The Challan Slip And Book A Slot

Attending the Lok Adalat requires a printed challan slip, and this cannot be arranged at the court premises itself, so preparation beforehand is essential. The download facility opened on July 6, 2026, through the Delhi Traffic Police website, and the same portal also allows motorists to select their preferred court and appointment time, effectively generating a token for the day.

There is, however, a cap to bear in mind. A maximum of fifty thousand challan slips can be downloaded each day, with an overall ceiling of two lakh notices for the entire exercise. Once either limit is reached, further slips will not be issued, so early action is strongly recommended for anyone hoping to take part.

What Motorists Should Keep In Mind

Officials have been clear that only those carrying a printed notice will be permitted to proceed with their case, making it a straightforward but essential step. Given the scale of pending challans in Delhi, this Special Lok Adalat offers a practical route to resolution without the delays typically associated with virtual court processes.
