Citroen Basalt Suv Coupe Deliveries Commence

Citroen Basalt SUV-Coupe Deliveries Commence

The Citroen Basalt, launched in August 2024, has officially begun customer deliveries across India. Priced between Rs 7.99 lakh and Rs 13.83 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom pan-India), this SUV-coupe marks Citroen’s entry into the mass-market segment with a distinctive blend of style and practicality.

Powertrain Options

The Citroen Basalt offers two engine options designed to cater to a variety of driving preferences:

1.2-litre Naturally Aspirated Petrol Engine

  • Power: 82 PS

  • Torque: 115 Nm

  • Transmission: 5-speed Manual Transmission (MT)

  • Fuel Efficiency (claimed): 18 kmpl

1.2-litre Turbo-Petrol Engine

  • Power: 110 PS

  • Torque: 190 Nm (MT) / 205 Nm (AT)

  • Transmission: 6-speed MT / 6-speed Automatic Transmission (AT)

  • Fuel Efficiency (claimed): 19.5 kmpl (MT) / 18.7 kmpl (AT)

Features & Safety

Citroen has equipped the Basalt with a range of features that enhance both comfort and safety. Key highlights include:

  • Infotainment: A 10.2-inch touchscreen system paired with a 7-inch digital driver's display.

  • Convenience: Automatic climate control, wireless phone charging, and an adjustable under-thigh support for rear seats (with up to 87 mm of extension).

  • Safety: The Basalt comes standard with six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), a rear parking camera, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

Price & Rivals

The Citroen Basalt is positioned as a stylish alternative to several popular SUVs in the Indian market. It directly competes with the Tata Curvv and also serves as a competitor to models like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Volkswagen Taigun, Toyota Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor, Citroen C3 Aircross, Honda Elevate.

With its unique design and competitive pricing, the Citroen Basalt aims to carve a niche for itself in the crowded SUV segment. As customer deliveries begin, it will be interesting to see how this SUV-coupe fares against its well-established rivals.
