BYD Sealion 7 to Launch in India by March 2025: What to Expect

The BYD Sealion 7 coupe-SUV, a premium electric vehicle positioned above the Seal sedan, will debut at Auto Expo 2025. It promises cutting-edge features, long-range Blade batteries, and a sleek design inspired by BYD’s innovative EV lineup.

As for now, BYD India has released official teasers for the Sealion 7 coupe-SUV, which will go on sale in March 2025. This posh electric automobile will be launched in India at the Auto Expo 2025 which is on 17th January, and at the same event, BYD is going to display the current range which it has already started selling including the Seal sedan, Atto 3 SUV, and eMax 7 MPV.

Sealion 7: A Stylish and Sophisticated Coupe-SUV

The BYD Sealion 7 which is already in the Chinese and some European markets, owes its design to the Seal sedan. Cutting-edge front and rear car bumpers, connected lateral LED tail lamps, sharp headlamp design line add sporting and futuristic appeal. With its overall length of about 4.8 meters, it is equipped with a luxurious cabin in the Sealion 7.

Inside, the coupe-SUV looks similar to the Seal sedan but has a futuristic design accompanied by a rotating screen that is BYD’s hallmark. This feature can also be traced in BYD’s direction of combining both functionality with innovation.

Powertrain and Battery Options

The Sealion 7 model is fully based on the new-generation e-Platform 3.0 Evo and incorporates BYD’s innovative Blade battery. Customers can choose between two battery options: another form is an 82.5kWh unit and another even bigger form of 91.3kWh. These provide a maximum distance of 502km, so for long journeys there will not be many stops for recharging.

While the Sealion 7 was unveiled only for the overseas markets it is expected to have both the FWD and the RWD systems but the specifications for the model designed for India would be launched at the Auto Expo only.

Positioning and Pricing

In India, the Sealion 7 will sit above the BYD Seal sedan, which starts at ₹41 lakh (ex-showroom). The Sealion 7, however, does not have a clear rival but will be competing with luxury electric vehicles such as Kia EV6 or Hyundai Ioniq 5. This is major because of its design, high tech as well as powerful performance and therefore could be regarded as one of the best luxurious EVs.

BYD’s Growing Presence in India

Currently, BYD is being highly strategic in broadening its market access in the Indian market. The company is presently running 27 showrooms, but the leadership plans to expand to 40 cities by 2025.

The launch of the all-new BYD Sealion 7 is another major addition to the EV revolution in India, giving customers a high-performance stylish product in the PREMIUM EV segment.
