BMW India has started the booking of the all-new 2 Series Gran Coupe, which will be unveiled in the country on 17th July 2025. This entry-level luxury sedan will be introduced to India only in the petrol-powered avatar, which will come in two different variants, the M Sport and the M Sport Pro.
Both version is promised to have superior styling and dynamism based on Indian demands.
Outside Evolutionary Design, Inside Revolutionary Cabin
The new 2GC will enhance the design of the old vehicle in evolutionary terms on the exterior. It also keeps its characteristic four-door coupe outline with a makeover kidney grille, a re-modelled headlamps, a more burly bumper and updated lamps on the tail.
The general position is more assertive, particularly in the M Sport versions that have pointier body trims and performance alloys.
Internally, the changes are more marked. Taking inspiration from the new BMW X1, the 2GC has a floating panoramic screen that includes a 10.25-inch digital driver display as well as a 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment.
Numerous physical controls have been done away with, and a cleaner, more contemporary dashboard substituted. A change in the way the cabin is laid out is the split-style side air vents, the redesigned central vent, and the shift-by-wire gear lever that is on the centre armrest.
Performance and Trims: M Sport All the Way
Both new variants of the 2GC will run on a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine providing 154 bhp and 230 Nm, and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. This is not quite as potent as the previous range 2.0-litre engine, but BMW is claiming a smooth performance and improved efficiency.
More importantly, the M Sport models are priced higher and they are fitted with an M Sport steering wheel, a sporty addition of stitching to the interior and a more edgy design on the exterior.
Rivalry and Launch Expectation
The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe itself will have rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, as the latter will provide premium solutions to the buyers of entry-level luxury sedans once it is launched.
The new-age technology, badge value of BMW, and a sportier design will give the revamped 2GC a good chance to enhance the presence of the luxury car brand in the Indian car market.
