The upcoming MG Hector facelift is teased with a major infotainment overhaul and subtle but noticeable exterior tweaks.
The changes aim to revive Hector’s appeal amid steeply falling sales and growing competition in India’s SUV market.
The infotainment system in the new Hector has seen the largest change. It is anticipated that the upgraded model would have a high-performance processor with up to 10 GB of RAM, which will result in noticeably quicker reaction times, more seamless multitasking, and a more fluid, smartphone-like experience.
Additionally, the system might include multi-touch gesture controls, which would make cabin interaction more modern and straightforward by enabling users to control features like music playback, fan speed, and air conditioning temperature with swipes and taps.
A smoother user interface, better connection, ventilated seats (front and perhaps rear), and a wider range of features, such as greater driver-assist choices (ADAS), could be added to the interior in addition to technological advancements.
External Updates: Sharper Presence, Familiar Silhouette
The facelift appears to be evolutionary rather than revolutionary from the outside. The official teaser and spy photos show a modified front grille, updated front and rear bumpers, and possibly new alloy wheels (probably 19-inch) that give it a more aggressive, high-end appearance.
According to reports, the SUV maintains its familiar shape while projecting a little more mature design presence thanks to the preservation of the characteristic LED DRLs and headlight configuration, as well as the overall roofline and body contour.
Powertrain and Performance: Known Engines, Tech-First Approach
The 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline and the 2.0-liter diesel engines, together with the same transmission options, are anticipated to be the mechanical features of the redesigned Hector.
This implies that MG is not aiming for significant performance improvements this time; instead, the emphasis seems to be on enhancing the comfort, connection, and in-cab experience rather than changing engine dynamics.
Why This Facelift Is Important: Hector's Effort to Recover
Sales of Hector have drastically decreased over the last 12 months, from 21,474 units to just 8,414, with October 2025 seeing just 225 units, the lowest in a year.
With vehicles like the Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV7XO, and others posing more formidable competition in the SUV market, this facelift aims to revitalize interest in Hector by focusing more on features, comfort, and technology improvements than just aesthetics or engine upgrades.
This might be one of the brand's most significant launches of the year if the improved passenger experience and updated styling appeal to consumers. It's an opportunity to regain lost momentum without altering the core principles.
