MG Motors has planned to bring into India a batch of exciting electric vehicles with an all-new entry for four models that will tap the space and also rival competitors such as Tata.
The official launching channel would be the newly started network of MG Select dealership facilities, specializing in the high-end performance of primarily electric and hybrid models.
Here are more recent details regarding these vehicles soon to land in this market.
MG Cyberster: The Electric Sports Car
The MG Cyberster promises to upset the balance as an electric convertible sports car, making its grand entrance in January 2025 at the Bharat Mobility Show. This two-seater offers a vigorous twin-motor configuration and outputs an astonishing 508 bhp along with a hefty torque of 725 Nm.
Moreover, it has an amazing speed of just 3.2 seconds for 0-100 km/h, making it among the fastest electric cars in its class. A 77-kWh battery would power the Cyberster, making its range about 550-560 km on a single charge. Prices are provisionally expected to start above Rs 60 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
MiFa 9: The All-New Electric MPV
Following its promise of making the brand electric with the launch of the Cyberster, MG is ready to unveil the MiFa 9, an all-electric multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) that will fight rival brands such as Kia's EV9 and Toyota's Velfire. It will be powered by an electric motor producing 245 bhp and 350 Nm of torque, with an expected range of more than 400 km.
Apart from that, the MiFa 9 will also be sold via the new MG Select dealerships and thus increase its availability to consumer needs for family-oriented EVs.
MG 4 Hatchback: Mass Appeal
Another exciting addition that is expected to come in by the end of 2025 is the MG 4 hatchback. It also promises to be an all-battery electric hatch with an estimated range of 400-420 km thanks to a 65-kWh battery pack. With such aerodynamics, it will be among the most efficient hatchbacks in India.
Unlike some models that could be imported as completely built units (CBUs), the MG 4 will be locally assembled, an approach that has strong potential to offer competitive pricing and appeal to a wider audience in the market.
MG 5 Station Wagon: Giving a Second Life to a Classic Revival Segment
MG is also bringing estate cars back to India with the MG 5, a segment that has been relatively unpopular since the likes of Tata Estate phased out. It will come with a 61-kWh battery pack that will take this vehicle up to an approximate range of 500 km and will produce 155 bhp and 280 Nm of torque. The way MG has priced this model is designed to generate some traffic in this niche market.
Conclusion
MG Motors is thereby equipping itself strategically with the MG Cyberster, MiFa 9, MG 4 hatchback, and MG 5 station wagon towards the evolution of this growing automotive landscape in India. The dealership of dedicated MG Select dealerships is a pledge to avow the luxury of housing premium electric vehicles tailored to Indian customer needs.
