4 Exciting Electric SUVs Launching Next Month

The electric vehicle (EV) market in India is buzzing with excitement as more automakers enter the segment, offering buyers eco-friendly alternatives with lower maintenance costs, tax benefits, and reduced emissions.

Tata Motors currently leads with models like the Tiago.ev, Nexon.ev, and Curvv.ev, but 2025 will mark the entry of new challengers.

Let’s take a look at four highly anticipated electric SUVs set to launch in January 2025.

1. Maruti e-Vitara

The e-Vitara, Maruti Suzuki's first electric SUV, will debut at the Bharat Mobility Show. Built on the all-new Heartect-e skateboard platform, this SUV promises futuristic design and high performance.

Key Features:

Dimensions: 4,275mm (length), 1,800mm (width), 1,635mm (height).

Battery Options:

  • 49kWh with a single motor.

  • 61kWh with an optional dual-motor AWD setup.

Range: Up to 500km (estimated) with the larger battery.

BYD Blade Cells: Advanced battery technology for durability.

The Maruti e-Vitara aims to redefine EVs in India with its innovative design and long-range capability. Prices will be announced in March 2025.

2. Hyundai Creta EV

Hyundai’s first mass-market electric SUV, the Creta EV, is poised to be one of 2025's most significant launches.

Key Features:

Battery: 45kWh pack with a range of 350km+ (expected).

Interior Updates

  • Circular three-spoke steering wheel.

  • Dual-screen setup for infotainment and instrument cluster.

  • Custom seat upholstery with “CRETA Electric” embossing.

Competition: Tata Curvv.ev, Maruti e-Vitara, and MG ZS EV.

The Creta EV will make its debut at the Bharat Mobility Show. The prices are also expected to be revealed at the event.

3. Mahindra BE 6

The Mahindra BE 6 is part of the automaker's next-gen electric lineup. Designed for urban and long-distance drives, it combines power and range seamlessly.

Key Features

Battery Options:

  • 59kWh producing 228bhp with a range of 556km.

  • 79kWh producing 281bhp with a range of 682km.

Drive Modes: Range, Everyday, and Race.

Fast Charging: 20% to 80% fast charging in just 20 minutes with a 175kW DC fast charger.

The Mahindra BE 6 will have a starting price of ₹18.90 lakh, offering an attractive entry point into EV ownership.

4. Mahindra XUV 9e

The Mahindra XUV 9e, a premium electric SUV, shares its battery options and tech with the BE 6 while adding more spacious interiors and advanced features.

Key Features

  • Performance: Up to 281bhp with a torque of 380Nm.

  • Range: ARAI-certified range of up to 682km.

  • Technology: Enhanced safety and driver-assist systems.

Starting at ₹21.90 lakh, the XUV 9e is positioned for those seeking a luxurious EV experience.
