2026 Honda Elevate Facelift Spied Testing In India

A heavily camouflaged Honda Elevate prototype has been spotted undergoing road tests in India, pointing to a mid-life facelift for the midsize SUV. First launched in September 2023, the Elevate appears set to receive cosmetic revisions at the front and rear, updated features, and a likely expansion of its ADAS suite. The powertrain, however, is expected to carry over unchanged. The update comes as Honda looks to shore up the Elevate's sales ahead of a broader product push towards 2030.

  • A camouflaged Honda Elevate test mule has been caught on Indian roads, revealing upcoming cosmetic changes at both ends of the midsize SUV.

  • The facelift is expected to bring feature and interior updates, though the 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine and transmission options will likely carry over.

Honda appears to be readying a mid-life update for its Elevate SUV, with a heavily camouflaged prototype recently spotted doing the rounds on Indian public roads. The test mule is the clearest sign yet that a facelift is on the cards for the SUV, which made its India debut in September 2023.

While the silhouette remains familiar, thick camouflage wrapping conceals key styling elements at the front and rear, suggesting cosmetic revisions are in the works rather than any wholesale redesign.

Fresh Face Expected at Both Ends

Going by what the spy shots reveal, the facelift will likely bring updates to the bumper design, front grille, and lighting elements.

At the rear, revised tail lamp graphics appear to be part of the package, though the exact styling remains under wraps for now. Importantly, the overall body shape, greenhouse, and side profile are largely unchanged, which tells you that Honda is taking a focused approach here.

The upright proportions, large glass area, and practical stance that buyers have come to associate with the Elevate are all still very much present.

Feature Upgrades Likely on the Inside Too

Beyond the cosmetic work, the Elevate facelift is expected to come with a revised feature list. Interior updates could include new upholstery choices, refreshed trim finishes, and tweaks to the infotainment system. There is also a reasonable chance that Honda broadens the availability of its Honda Sensing ADAS suite across more variants.

At present, the technology is reserved for top-spec trims, and widening its reach would certainly help the Elevate keep pace with newer rivals in what is an extremely competitive segment.

Powertrain Stays the Same

Under the bonnet, do not expect any surprises. The facelifted Elevate is set to continue with Honda's 1.5-litre naturally aspirated i-VTEC petrol engine, which produces 121 hp and 145 Nm of torque. Both the 6-speed manual and CVT automatic transmission options are expected to remain on the menu.

There is no indication at this stage that a hybrid variant is being considered for the Indian market, with Honda seemingly content to maintain its existing powertrain strategy while directing its energy towards styling and feature improvements.

A Timely Refresh as Sales Face Pressure

The timing of this facelift is telling. Over the last ten months, the Elevate has averaged around 1,900 units per month, a figure that sits well below segment leaders such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.

Cumulative sales over this period stand at 17,071 units, underlining the need for stronger differentiation in one of India's most fiercely contested SUV segments. A refreshed look and an improved feature set could give Elevate the push it needs while Honda prepares its broader product offensive.

Bigger Plans in the Pipeline

Honda Cars India has outlined plans to introduce ten new models by 2030, with an all-new midsize SUV and a sub-4 metre compact SUV both expected from 2028 onwards.

Before those arrive, Honda's first mass-market electric SUV, built on the 0 Series platform, is slated for a 2027 launch with testing already underway.

The Elevate facelift, in that context, is a bridge product, one that keeps the Honda nameplate relevant in the midsize segment while the company works towards its next chapter.
