2024 Honda Amaze First Drive Review Features Performance And Should You Buy It

2024 Honda Amaze First Drive Review: Features, Performance, and Should You Buy It?

Introduction

The 2024 Honda Amaze arrives as a breath of fresh air in the sub-four-metre sedan segment, which has recently gained momentum with new iterations of key players like the Maruti Dzire. Positioned as a value-for-money option with unique offerings, the Amaze combines modern styling, segment-first features, and practicality to appeal to a wide range of buyers.

But does it have enough to stand out against strong rivals like the Hyundai Aura and Tata Tigor?

Let’s dive in.

Design: Inspired by Honda’s Legacy

The new Amaze draws inspiration from Honda’s bigger models, featuring a front grille and headlamps reminiscent of the Elevate, while its rear design takes cues from the City. This cohesive family design language enhances its appeal. A standout feature is the semi-coupe roofline, adding a sporty touch to its otherwise practical design.

Unlike competitors, Honda has avoided the increasingly common connected light setup, maintaining a clean and sophisticated look.

Cabin Comfort and Features: Practical and Well-Equipped

Inside, the Amaze offers a refreshed cabin with a dual-tone black-and-beige theme. Updates include better-bolstered front seats, rear AC vents, and sleeker A-pillars for improved visibility. The 416-litre bootspace remains one of its strongest selling points, easily accommodating luggage for weekend trips.

The features list is competitive, with highlights like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an air purifier, six airbags, and a segment-first Level 2 ADAS suite. However, it lacks certain premium touches, such as an electric sunroof or ventilated seats, which might disappoint some buyers.

Performance: Reliable and Refined

Powered by a 1.2-litre iVTEC petrol engine, the Amaze delivers 89bhp and 110Nm of torque. The five-speed manual transmission offers smooth shifts, while Honda’s updates enhance low-end torque for city driving. The ride quality is commendable, with a suspension tuned for comfort and effective noise insulation.

The segment-first ADAS features like lane-keep assist and adaptive cruise control add safety and convenience, though inconsistent road markings can occasionally confuse the system.

Verdict: A Value-Packed Choice

The 2024 Honda Amaze is a well-rounded offering with a blend of modern features, reliable performance, and competitive pricing (Rs. 8 lakh–Rs. 10.9 lakh, ex-showroom). While it lacks a diesel option and certain premium features, it excels in areas like bootspace, ride comfort, and ADAS technology. If you’re in the market for a practical, family-friendly sedan, the Amaze deserves a spot on your shortlist.
