What's New and What to Expect from the 2026 Mahindra Thar Facelift Spied Testing

The 2026 Thar facelift has been seen testing on Indian roads, indicating that Mahindra's renowned off-road SUV is preparing for a significant overhaul. According to the most recent spy photos, the redesigned Thar will incorporate current technology and upgraded lighting, among other design and features from the larger Thar Roxx. The redesign is anticipated to provide a more luxurious feel, better safety features, and greater everyday usability for customers while maintaining the robust DNA.

  • Design and technology from the Thar Roxx have been seen in a new Thar makeover.

  • New styling, additional functionality, and perhaps cutting-edge safety technology are all promised with the upgrade.

We get an early look at what may be a more significant update than the recent 2025 Thar revamp, thanks to Mahindra's next facelift for the famous Thar, which has been spotted testing on Indian roads.

According to spy photos, this variant takes some features from the larger Thar Roxx SUV, suggesting a more daring and contemporary take on the tough lifestyle car.

External Modifications: A More Modern, Fresher Look

The external changes are the most obvious. Similar to the Thar Roxx, the front end appears to have a new grille design and circular LED headlights with C-shaped DRLs.

Additionally, the alloy wheels appear to be ripped directly from the Roxx model and may be larger—up to 19 inches. More minor improvements are anticipated at the rear, where a redesigned LED tail-light signature will give the vehicle a sharper look.

By combining the Thar's off-road pedigree with modern style cues found in more recent Mahindra SUVs, this facelift definitely seeks to make the vehicle appear more modern.

Expected Additional Features and Technology

Insiders anticipate that Mahindra will use even more technology from the Thar Roxx, even though details on the interior of this makeover are still being revealed. Ventilated front seats, wireless charging, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, automated climate control, keyless entry with push-button start, and possibly Level-2 ADAS features, a major advancement in safety technology, are all possible additions.

In order to improve the driving experience over the existing model, Mahindra is probably going to outfit the facelift with a larger infotainment screen and upgraded cabin controls, according to earlier spy pictures.

Launch and Powertrain Expectations

The 2026 Thar facelift is anticipated to retain the current lineup's engine options, which include 1.5-liter turbo diesel, 2.0-liter turbo petrol, and 2.2-liter turbo diesel units. RWD (4x2) and 4x4 configurations are also available, along with manual and automatic transmissions.

Mahindra may decide to introduce the new facelift later in 2026 or even early in 2027, offering consumers a modernized Thar with increased technology and design while keeping the tough features that enthusiasts adore.
