Volkswagen Golf GTI and Tiguan R-Line to launch soon

This year, Volkswagen will launch two new models: the legendary Golf GTI and the brand-new Tiguan R-Line. In Q2 of 2025, both of these versions will go on sale. These well-regarded Volkswagen vehicles will boost sales and further solidify the brand in India.

Volkswagen will launch the legendary Golf GTI and the brand-new Tiguan R-Line this year as part of its aggressive plan for India.

In Q2 of 2025, both of these versions will go on sale. These highly regarded Volkswagen vehicles will boost sales and further solidify the brand in India.

Let's examine the specifics of these two impending releases.

Words by Brand Director of Volkswagen India

"The Volkswagen brand has been known for the performance, driving dynamics, build quality, and safety of its products, offering a wide product portfolio to millions of customers worldwide," stated Mr. Ashish Gupta, Brand Director, Volkswagen India.

This international reputation has also been upheld in India by our made-in-India, made-for-the-world Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus. We are thrilled to introduce the all-new Volkswagen Tiguan R-line and the venerable Golf GTI to Indian consumers, carrying on our performance heritage.

Key Features of Volkswagen Golf GTI

The Volkswagen Golf GTI, one of the most recognizable hot hatches ever, is favored for its aggressive styling and potent performance. The 2.0-liter TSI (EA888 evo4) turbocharged inline-4 engine that produces 261 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque will power the Volkswagen Golf GTI in India. Both a 6-speed and a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission are available. Only the automatic gearbox option is probably going to be available in India. It has an electronically regulated peak speed of 250 kmph and can go from 0 to 100 kmph in 5.9 seconds.

More features of Volkswagen Golf GTI

Sleek LED matrix headlights, a huge honeycomb-patterned grille, 18-inch "Richmond" or black diamond-turned alloy wheels, a slightly tapered roofline, special "GTi" badging, red highlights, sharp tail lamps, and twin exhaust tips are some of the stylistic features of the Volkswagen Golf GTI.

A big 12.9-inch infotainment screen, ambient lighting with 30 colors, heated front seats, surround illumination with a welcome light, wireless charging, and eSIM for accessing various connection functions are among the interior highlights.

At dealerships, unofficial reservations have already begun. Launch pricing is anticipated to be about Rs 50 lakh.

Key Features of Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line

The second-generation Tiguan, which is built on the MQB chassis, is now offered in India. The company's Aurangabad factory is where it is put together. The updated MQB Evo platform serves as the foundation for the new Tiguan. It opens up a variety of engine choices, enhanced design, and several new features. Volkswagen will launch the top-spec R-Line version of the 2017 Tiguan for the Indian market.

Powertrain of Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line

The 2017 Tiguan R-Line is offered in petrol, diesel, mild-hybrid, and plug-in hybrid configurations worldwide. The 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine will power the new Tiguan R-Line in India. A 7-speed DSG 4MOTION (All Wheel Drive) gearbox is mated to it. This configuration is identical to that of the Tiguan that is already offered in India.

Conclusion

With the upcoming launch of the Volkswagen Golf GTI and Tiguan R-Line in India, Volkswagen is set to strengthen its premium portfolio and cater to enthusiasts seeking performance and style. While both models will come as CBUs at a premium price, their cutting-edge technology, dynamic driving experience, and global reputation make them highly anticipated additions to the Indian market. The Golf GTI will appeal to hot hatch enthusiasts, while the Tiguan R-Line will cater to those looking for a sporty and feature-rich SUV. As Volkswagen expands its offerings, these new models will further establish the brand’s commitment to performance, quality, and innovation in India.
