Upcoming SUV Launches Worth Waiting For This Festive Season

As more car buyers in India lean towards SUVs for their stylish looks, spacious cabins, and higher ground clearance suited for Indian roads, the upcoming festive season is set to bring a range of exciting new SUV launches. Here are five SUVs that are worth waiting for this festive season:

1. Tata Curvv

Launch Date: September 2, 2024
Expected Price: Rs 10.50 lakh

Starting off the festive season is the highly anticipated Tata Curvv. This SUV-coupe stands out in its segment with its distinctive design and will be available with two 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine options and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCT), making the Curvv the first mass-market SUV in India to offer a diesel-DCT combination. Key features include a panoramic sunroof, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a 9-speaker sound system, and advanced safety features like a 360-degree camera and level-2 ADAS.

2. Tata Nexon CNG

Launch Date: To be confirmed
Expected Price: Rs 9 lakh

Tata Motors is expected to launch the Nexon CNG, which will be the first SUV in India to offer a factory-fitted CNG kit with a turbocharged petrol engine. Powered by a 120 PS 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, the Nexon CNG is also expected to come with a manual and possibly an automatic gearbox. The Nexon CNG will feature Tata’s innovative twin-cylinder technology, offering 230 litres of usable boot space. Expect a price premium of about Rs 1 lakh over the standard Nexon variants.

3. Hyundai Alcazar Facelift

Launch Date: September 9, 2024
Expected Price: Rs 17 lakh

Hyundai is gearing up to launch the facelifted version of the Alcazar on September 9. The updated three-row SUV not only sports a fresh design but also introduces new features like rear-seat ventilation for 6-seater variants, dual-zone automatic climate control, and Level-2 ADAS. Engine options remain unchanged, with a choice between a 160 PS 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 116 PS 1.5-litre diesel engine. The starting price for the facelifted Alcazar is expected to be around Rs 17 lakh.

4. Kia EV9

Launch Date: October 3, 2024
Expected Price: Rs 80 lakh

Kia is set to introduce its second electric vehicle in India, the EV9, on October 3, 2024. This electric SUV is expected to arrive as a fully imported model, competing with premium electric SUVs like the BMW iX and Mercedes-Benz EQE. The EV9 boasts a sleek design with modern lighting elements and will be available globally with either a 76.1 kWh or a 99.8 kWh battery pack, offering a maximum range of up to 541 km (WLTP). Details on the India-spec model are awaited.

5. Mercedes-Benz EQS 680 SUV

Launch Date: September 5, 2024
Expected Price: Rs 3.5 crore

Mercedes-Benz will be launching its first all-electric Maybach model in India, the EQS 680 SUV. This ultra-luxurious SUV is adorned with chrome accents and offers top-of-the-line features, including a 17.7-inch OLED touchscreen infotainment system, dual 12.3-inch displays for the driver and passenger, heated and ventilated seats, and a panoramic sunroof. The international version of the EQS 680 comes with a 107.8 kWh battery pack, dual electric motors producing 658 PS and 950 Nm, a range of up to 600 km, and a 0 to 100 kmph acceleration time of just 4.1 seconds.
