Toyota To Finally Launch Its First Ever Electric Suv For India

Toyota to finally launch its first-ever electric SUV for India!

Toyota revealed the Urban SUV concept last year which is based on the Suzuki eVX and will be going to India’s first-ever electric SUV. According to the reports, the brand's first all-electric vehicle for India may be introduced in the second half of 2025. It also indicates that six months after the Maruti Suzuki eVX's launch, in September or October of 2025, Toyota's first electric SUV is expected to go on sale.

Toyota Urban electric SUV: Specifications

Exterior:

Toyota introduced the Urban SUV concept, roughly the same size as the Maruti eVX at 4,300 mm in length, 1,820 mm in width, and 1,620 mm in height. Both models will have the same 2,700mm wheelbase.

The exterior of the SUV will bear a striking resemblance to the latest generation of Toyota electric vehicles, namely the bZ compact SUV concept, which will also feature angular surfaces, a front bumper with a minimalist appearance, and C-shaped LED daytime running lamps. It has a classic upright SUV silhouette with flared wheel arches and a rugged look. The rear end resembles the eVX; the glass house and doors look very familiar, albeit with the rear door handles positioned on the C-pillar.

Interior:

We can expect significant parts sharing and commonalities with the eVX in this instance as well, even though Toyota hasn't revealed any information on the interior of the Urban SUV concept. Also, Due to its born-EV skateboard platform, it will have a great deal of space and flexibility. Its interior, like that of its Maruti counterpart, will likely be luxurious and equipped with a wide range of creature comforts, safety features, and technology.

Toyota Urban electric SUV: Powertrain

The 27PL skateboard platform, which will be extensively localized and constructed in India at Suzuki's Gujarat facility for both export and domestic markets, will support the Toyota Urban SUV. It is expected to be available in two battery pack options, an entry-level model with a smaller 48kWh battery pack and approximately 400km of range, and a 60kWh unit with about 550km of range was demonstrated with the eVX concept. According to Toyota, the SUV will be available in some markets with both FWD and dual-motor AWD options.

Toyota Urban electric SUV: Expected Price and Rivals

The Urban SUV, which could cost about Rs 25 lakh, would be Toyota's first electric vehicle in India, which will compete directly with the Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv EV as well as its sibling, the Maruti eVX.
