  1. Maruti Suzuki

Maruti Suzuki has successfully continued its domination as the top-selling car brand in the country, recording sales of around 1.74 units in January 2025. This automaker has nearly shipped 69,000 more cars than Hyundai and Mahindra combined. While its monthly sales grew by a little over 33 percent, Maruti was one of the few brands to have positive year-on-year (YoY) growth.

  1. Hyundai

Hyundai maintains its position as the second-best-selling automaker, surpassing Mahindra by a little over 3,300 units sold. On this list, the carmaker also reported a respectable MoM gain of about 28%, despite a roughly 5.5% decline in its YoY market share.

  1. Mahindra

Mahindra was the last brand on the list to sell more than 50,000 units in January, and it still holds the last podium position on this list. The automaker's annual sales increased by almost 18 percent, and its monthly sales increased by over 9,000 units.

  1. Tata

Nearly 48,000 buyers were found by Tata in February 2025. Demand increased by 9% month over month, but it had a negative YoY of about 10.5%.

  1. Toyota

With just 1,150 more units sold than the Kia, Toyota was able to surpass the 26,000-unit milestone. More than 2,900 vehicles were shipped by the Japanese manufacturer than the year before.

  1. Kia

Even though YoY sales increased by just over 5%, Kia recorded the biggest MoM growth of about 180 percent with over 25,000 units sold.

  1. Honda

In January 2025, Honda surpassed 6,000 units sold, while experiencing the largest annual sales decline of about 28%. Nevertheless, the carmaker also saw a negative MoM sales rate of more than 10.5%.

  1. MG

With just 4,455 units shipped last month, MG saw the largest drop in MoM sales, down almost 41%. In the meantime, it grew by 16.5 percent year over year.

  1. Skoda

Skoda, which came in second last on the list, had the largest YoY growth of almost 74% but had negative MoM sales of more than 9%. The automaker did, however, surpass the 4,000 unit sales milestone.

  1. Volkswagen

With only about 3,350 cars shipped last month, Volkswagen fell to last place. While its annual sales increased by more than 2 percent, its monthly sales also experienced a decline of more than 30 percent.

Conclusion

Overall, some of the brands had immense growth and some car makers were left behind with the bad numbers as the consumers only want utility nowadays and look for the best alternative possible. Readers can look forward to the car news to get more information about these models and make the right decision on which car to buy.
