This Car Will Be The New Rival Of Porsches Best Selling Cayenne

This car will be the new rival of Porsche’s best-selling Cayenne

Porsche’s best-selling Cayenne SUV has finally got a new rival which will be none other than the JLR (formerly Jaguar Land Rover) electric version of the Range Rover Sport which is planned to be unveiled later this year. By 2026, it will be the second of six new EVs to hit foreign markets.

CEO, Adrian Mardell stated, “We talked about six Land Rovers by 2026. The reality is we’re likely to have six JLR products by 2026. We’re taking our time to make sure we put the best vehicles we’ve ever developed into the marketplace with that new technology.” The Range Rover Sport EV, a genuine competitor to Porsche's best-selling Cayenne SUV, will resemble its gas-powered predecessor in appearance.

Details of Land Rover EVs

The Range Rover EV model attracted over 16,000 interested parties just two months after reservations opened and the Range Rover Sport EV model will be prioritized under the new plan.

The MLA platform, which also supports the current combustion models, will serve as the foundation for both. Based on the new EMA platform (which is also shared by the future Tata Avinya), the Range Rover Evoque and Velar, which are electrified, are expected to be two smaller SUVs.

The electric substitutes for the Discovery Sport and Defender will also be a part of Land Rover's future EV portfolio and will be revealed sometime after 2026.

Details of Jaguar EVs

As far as Jaguar is concerned, By 2026, Jaguar will offer two electric vehicles. The first is a four-door GT that will probably be unveiled later this year. The other will be an opulent SUV that will probably compete with models like the Bentley Bentayga. These EVs are Based on Jaguar's JEA architecture. Shortly after, the brand will release a luxury car on this platform that rivals the BMW i7.

Mardell also claims that the company's operations won't be impacted by the change in the electrification approach. "We're a little slower than we said three years ago," he continued. Given those other market characteristics, we don't see that as a commercial constraint right now, and we're committed to the macro timeline, which states that all products will be electrified by the end of the decade.

Details of Jaguar Land Rover EVs

It has been observed that JLR has been silent in the discussion over the performance numbers for its future electric vehicles. The upcoming Range Rover Sport EV, according to the brand, would have performance that is on par with the V8 and will be able to travel anywhere.

Although we do not anything about the battery parameters we do know that all of the models will offer 800V charging hardware. This will allow for quick top-ups by enabling charging rates of up to 270kW. Additionally, the current mild- and plug-in hybrid Range Rover models will be produced at the Solihull facility alongside the Range Rover EV. It will utilize batteries from a third-party source at first, but later Tata, the parent company of JLR, plans to make the packs in its new gigafactory in Somerset.

JLR’s India EV plans

JLR is thoroughly considering over the India about building EVs in India. If only this plan were authorized, JLR would have its largest production facility outside of the United Kingdom. The area that is being considered for investment is Sanand, Gujarat. However, other locations, including Pune, the company's original home base, are also being considered.
