In an interesting coincidence, a new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado has been spied on in India. Rumors say it would be going for a release in India during 2025 and still, it has not been advertised or shown at Auto Expo 2025. Worth saying Land Cruiser Prado was available in India many, many years ago, and therefore, it sparks speculation if it could come back.
Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Spied
The fresh Toyota Land Cruiser Prado has been spied on in India on a flatbed pickup truck. It has been designed to battle these premium off-roaders, such as the Land Rover Defender in India. It will be available at a selling price above the Fortuner but less than the larger and more expensive Land Cruiser LC300. Tough-looking on the outside, Prado has an interior to make it head and shoulders above competitors like British luxury SUV makers.
This specific unit was spotted in Begasurai, observing performance in the state of Bihar on a transporter truck with registration plates NL. Because this particular model has vertical slats on the grill, it could be a VX trim which also had a sunroof, which VX trim does not get globally. There is a possibility that Toyota markets features specific to the market.
The 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is a rough-looking vehicle; it has a boxy silhouette with a very upright stance. Completely textbook SUV based on a ladder frame chassis with a flat fascia and a high-set flat bonnet.
Notable features are the squarish design of the LED headlights, huge flared wheel arches, an alloy wheel of 20 inches, silver skid plates, rock sliders, and more.
On the inside, black is the theme. The 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado gets a chunky steering wheel with TOYOTA lettering, an oversized gear selector, large infotainment screens and instrument cluster, physical climate control buttons, seat ventilation and heating function, a wireless charging pad, etc.
So, what should we expect?
Under the hood is the Prado's 2.8L Turbo Diesel engine which is the same as the one used in the Fortuner. However, it gets a 48V mild-hybrid setup that has not found its way into India as yet. The engine produces a peak power of 204 bhp and 500 Nm of peak torque mated to an 8-speed torque converter gearbox.
Its launch is expected by the end of 2025 and will come up immediately below the Land Cruiser LC300. Pricing is still unknown, However, it can be anticipated somewhere around Rs 1.7 Cr (Ex-sh). This will be done via the CBU route with a fully imported variant to India.
