One of the key models manufactured by Tata Motors is the ‘PUNCH’, which has found a special place in the compact SUV segment, and the Pune-based car maker on Monday announced that it has produced 5 lakh units of the Tata Punch in less than 40 months of its launch, beginning in October 2021.
Besides becoming India’s most-bought car of 2024, leaving behind famous cars such as the Maruti Wagon R and Hyundai Creta, it strengthened Tata Motors’ position in the SUV segment.
Sales Milestones: A Remarkable Journey
The Punch’s sales trajectory showcases its popularity among Indian buyers:
Currently, the company has been selling only 25,000 units a month and plans to make three lakh units in the next ten months of the financial year August’23.
2 lakh units within 20 months.
It plans to sell 4 lakh units by 2024, only 32 months after its launch.
To move from 4 lakh to 5 lakh units, it only took six months proving that there is constant demand for this product.

Price Hikes in 2025

The Adventure trim and Creative Plus S AMT Camo variant have been increased by ₹17,090.
The base price model of the Punch is now at ₹6.19 lakh (ex-showroom).
Nevertheless, the current price increase does not deprive Punch of the opportunity to beat competitors such as Citroen C3 and Hyundai Exter.
A Multi-Powertrain Offering
The Tata Punch is available in three powertrain options:
Petrol
CNG
Electric (EV)
This diverse lineup, along with a competitive feature set and punching, high impact construction has made the Punch a favourite of different customers.
Conclusion
We are now looking at the Tata Punch, which has set an impressive record for the car’s demand in the fiercely competitive compact SUV segment in India. The all-new Punch Family continues to sell 5 Lakh units, launched a complete powertrain lineup and has delivered impressive results. Thus, despite occasional shifts in the price range, its constant sales increases indicate that it will maintain benchmark sales in the foreseeable future.
