The mid-spec 40.5kWh battery variant of the Tata Nexon EV has been canceled by the Indian company, reducing the number of battery pack options to two from three. When the Nexon EV facelift was introduced in September 2023, the all-electric small SUV was available with 30kWh (MR) and 40.5kWh (LR) battery options. A year later, Tata introduced the 45kWh battery options.

Variants of Tata Nexon EV

There are now eight trim levels for the Tata Nexon EV, some of which are exclusive to a certain battery pack choice, for a total of ten variations of the electric small SUV. The Nexon EV MR is available in Creative +, Fearless, Fearless +, Fearless +S, and Empowered trims, featuring a 30kWh battery with a 275km MIDC range.

The Nexon EV 45, on the other hand, has a 45kWh battery with a 489km MIDC range. It comes in Red Dark, Empowered, Empowered +, Creative, and Fearless varieties.

More Information on the Variants

Since the 40.5kWh models were priced between Rs 14.59 lakh and Rs 16.29 lakh, which is in the center of the model's lineup, the whole pricing range stays at Rs 12.49 lakh to Rs 17.19 lakh. The Nexon EV LR 40.5kWh's overall range in our real-world range tests was 273 km on a full charge, which is closer to Tata's C75 number of 290–310 km but far less than the MIDC-quoted 390 km.

According to Tata Motors, 75% of owners should be able to reach the C75 test cycle, which is a driving range that is close to the real world.

Conclusion

The discontinuation of the Tata Nexon EV LR with a 40.5kWh battery simplifies the lineup to two battery options: 30kWh and 45kWh. Despite the change, Tata continues to offer a range of variants catering to different needs. With prices ranging from ₹12.49 lakh to ₹17.19 lakh, the Nexon EV remains a strong contender in India's electric SUV market.
