Renault Triber Turbo Launched at Rs 7.84 Lakh (ex-showroom)

• The Triber Turbo is priced from Rs 7.84 lakh to Rs 8.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and uses a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that makes 100 PS and 180 Nm, nearly 40 percent more power and close to double the torque of the outgoing naturally aspirated engine.

• The turbo engine comes only with a 5-speed manual gearbox at launch. A CVT automatic is reportedly in development, but Renault has not confirmed a timeline.

Renault launched the Triber Turbo on September 28, 2026, adding a turbocharged engine option to a seven-seat MPV that had, until now, run on a naturally aspirated motor many buyers found gutless.

The engine buyers have been waiting for

The Triber Turbo gets Renault's 1.0-litre three-cylinder 'HR10' turbo-petrol engine, the same unit used in the Kiger and Duster 1.0. Renault has tuned the engine management differently here, and peak torque comes in at 180 Nm, higher than what either the Kiger or the Duster 1.0 makes with the same engine. Peak power is 100 PS, or about 99 bhp.

For context, the outgoing naturally aspirated 1.0-litre engine makes 72 PS and 96 Nm. That gap is exactly what buyers had been complaining about, particularly on highways or with all seven seats occupied.

Sources have recorded a 0-100 kmph time of 10.8 seconds for the Triber Turbo. On efficiency, reports also claimed a figure of 21 kmpl. Renault says this makes the Triber the most fuel-efficient seven-seater MPV in its segment, though that is Renault's own claim and has not been independently verified.

The turbo engine is available only with a 5-speed manual gearbox for now. Sources report that a CVT automatic variant is under development, though Renault hasn't confirmed when it will arrive. Buyers who specifically wanted an automatic with the turbo engine will need to wait.

Price and variants

The turbo engine is offered across three of the Triber's four trims. The base Authentic variant continues with the naturally aspirated engine only.

Depending on the variant you pick, the turbo engine adds anywhere between Rs 94,000 and Rs 1.11 lakh over the equivalent naturally aspirated model. Renault has opened bookings at Rs 11,000, with deliveries expected to start soon.

What's changed, and what hasn't

Renault has left the Triber's exterior almost untouched. The grille, LED headlamps with daytime running lights, 15-inch dual-tone wheel covers and roof rails all carry over from the existing model. The only way to tell a Turbo apart from the outside is a 'TURBO' badge on the tailgate.

Inside, the story is the same across both engine options. Every variant gets an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, wireless phone charging, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers and cruise control. Boot space with the third row folded is 625 litres, according to Renault.

Safety equipment is also shared across the range: six airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts, ABS, EBD, ESP, traction control, hill-start assist and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

Renault has retuned the ABS, ESC and traction control specifically for the turbo variants to match the added power. The previous-generation Triber scored four stars in Global NCAP crash tests, but the current model hasn't been tested yet.

One thing you won't find on the Turbo is the dealer-fitted CNG kit, which Renault currently reserves for the naturally aspirated variants.

Where the Triber Turbo fits

The Triber competes in the compact MPV segment against the Nissan Gravite, which shares the same Renault Group Entry Platform underneath. Against the wider set of seven-seaters, Renault positions the Triber as the cheaper option compared to the Maruti Ertiga, Toyota Rumion, Maruti XL6, Kia Carens and Kia Carens Clavis.

Whether Nissan brings a turbo option to the Gravite as well is still unknown.

For a car that has sold on practicality but lost buyers on performance, the Triber Turbo closes that gap in a meaningful way. Nearly 40 percent more power and almost double the torque, for a premium of roughly Rs 1 lakh, is a reasonable trade for most buyers who need the extra seats but not at the cost of drivability. The absence of an automatic at launch will put off some, but with a CVT reportedly already in the works, that gap looks temporary rather than permanent.
