Renault Brings Back A Classic With A Modern Twist All Electric Renault 4 E Tech Set To Debut At Paris Motor Show

Renault Brings Back a Classic with a Modern Twist: All-Electric Renault 4 E-Tech Set to Debut at Paris Motor Show

Renault fans, get ready for a dose of nostalgia with a futuristic twist! The beloved Renault 4 hatchback, a popular icon from decades past, is making a grand comeback, reborn as an electric vehicle. Dubbed the Renault 4 E-Tech Electric , this modern take on the classic is set to make its global debut at the Paris Motor Show later this month. Here’s everything we know so far about the Renault 4 E-Tech Electric based on teaser images and official announcements.

A Fresh Yet Familiar Look

Renault’s teaser images reveal that the 4 E-Tech Electric retains a retro-inspired design while incorporating contemporary features that appeal to modern EV enthusiasts. The all-electric Renault 4 adopts a crossover-inspired silhouette, making it more rugged and practical for today’s roads. With design cues drawn from the original Renault 4 and the 2022 concept, the new model combines nostalgia with innovation.

Key Exterior Highlights

The Renault 4 E-Tech Electric pays homage to the original’s styling with distinctive round headlamps and an angular stance, evoking memories of the classic hatchback. At the rear, the vertical, three-sectioned tail lamps echo the concept design and give the vehicle a unique identity. There’s plenty of rugged body cladding along the wheel arches and the side profile, adding a dose of toughness and underscoring its crossover appeal.

Other intriguing elements include a roof-mounted mini spoiler and a new feature for Renault—a backlit front emblem that signals a fresh design direction for the brand. The Renault 4 E-Tech also boasts trapezoidal rear quarter windows, three sculpted lines along the door sills, and optional fabric retractable roof, giving it a mix of retro flair and modern aesthetics.

Platform and Powertrain Details

The Renault 4 E-Tech Electric will share Renault’s Ampr Small EV platform with its larger sibling, the Renault 5, which debuted earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show. Both models will feature a 2.54-meter wheelbase , underscoring their compact and city-friendly dimensions.

Powering the Renault 4 will be a selection of the Renault 5’s three single-motor, front-wheel-drive powertrains, with output choices of 94hp, 121hp, and 148hp . Buyers will also have a choice between two battery pack options: a 40kWh and a 52kWh . While exact driving range figures are not yet released, the Renault 4 is expected to offer enough range for everyday commuting, making it an ideal choice for urban drivers who prioritize sustainability and style.

A Glimpse Inside

While Renault hasn’t officially unveiled the interior, the Renault 4 E-Tech is expected to feature a dual-screen infotainment setup similar to the Renault 5. However, sources suggest that it may come with a more minimalist dashboard design, focusing on essential features while maintaining a clean aesthetic. The cabin will likely include contemporary amenities such as wireless charging, advanced connectivity, and customizable ambient lighting.

Production Plans

The Renault 4 E-Tech Electric is scheduled to enter production next summer at Renault’s ElectriCity hub in northern France. This facility is part of Renault’s broader electrification initiative, as the company continues to shift toward sustainable mobility solutions. The ElectriCity hub will be instrumental in producing not only the Renault 4 but also a range of other EVs as Renault expands its electric portfolio.

Availability and Market Expectations

While the Renault 4 E-Tech Electric has garnered significant attention globally, it’s unlikely to make its way to Indian roads anytime soon. Renault India is currently focusing on other segments, including its upcoming Creta-rivaling Duster SUV, slated for launch next year. For the European market, however, the Renault 4 E-Tech is expected to appeal to eco-conscious consumers looking for an electric vehicle that combines functionality with nostalgic charm.

Conclusion: A Nostalgic Revival with a Modern Touch

With its retro-inspired design, advanced electric powertrain, and practical crossover styling, the Renault 4 E-Tech Electric is poised to be a standout model at the Paris Motor Show. As Renault revives one of its most iconic models, the 4 E-Tech Electric serves as both a tribute to the past and a glimpse into the brand’s electric future. This blend of nostalgia and innovation could set the Renault 4 apart in the increasingly crowded EV market, appealing to those who appreciate classic design combined with modern technology.

For fans of the original Renault 4 and EV enthusiasts alike, the Renault 4 E-Tech Electric is sure to make waves and may even inspire a new generation of drivers to embrace sustainable driving without sacrificing style. All eyes will be on the Paris Motor Show as Renault officially unveils this exciting new addition to its E-Tech lineup, paving the way for more retro-inspired EVs in the years to come.
