Mg Windsor Running Costs Explained Battery Included In Rs 9 Lakh 99 Thousand Price

MG Windsor Running Costs Explained – Battery Included In Rs 9.99 Lakh Price

MG Motor has launched its third electric vehicle in India, the MG Windsor EV, with a starting price of Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This electric crossover brings a unique Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) program, making it more affordable and accessible for customers. Here’s a detailed look at the running costs and benefits of the MG Windsor EV.

Affordable Pricing with Battery Rental Option

The MG Windsor EV is priced competitively against other EVs like the Tata Punch EV (starting at Rs 10.99 lakh) and the Nexon EV (priced at Rs 14.49 lakh). However, MG's BaaS program significantly reduces the initial cost, as the battery rental cost is not included in the Rs 9.99 lakh price. Instead, customers pay for the battery usage through a rental fee.

Battery Rental Costs

  • Battery Rental Cost: Rs 3.5 per km

  • Minimum Recharge Amount: Rs 5,250 for 1,500 km

This cost is separate from charging expenses, which users will have to bear. Despite this, the BaaS model keeps upfront vehicle costs low, making the Windsor EV accessible to a wider range of customers.

Free One-Year Fast Charging

To further reduce running costs, MG Motor is offering free fast charging for one year at their charging stations. This offer is available to a limited number of early buyers, providing added savings on energy costs.

Lifetime Battery Warranty

A major benefit of the MG Windsor EV is the lifetime battery warranty offered to the first owner. If the vehicle is resold, the battery warranty changes to the standard 8 years or 1.6 lakh km. This warranty further enhances the value proposition for long-term users.

First-in-Segment Features

The MG Windsor EV boasts several first-in-segment features, such as:

  • Aero lounge seats with a 135° recline

  • Infinity view glass roof

  • 15.6-inch touchscreen

  • 256-colour ambient lighting

  • 6-way power driver seat

These features ensure a premium experience for customers, while the lower upfront cost compared to competitors makes the Windsor EV an attractive option.

The MG Windsor EV, with its innovative Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) program and lifetime battery warranty, offers an affordable and accessible solution for EV enthusiasts. Combined with its free fast charging for a year and a well-equipped feature set, the Windsor EV is positioned as a strong contender in India’s growing EV market.
