MG Windsor Pro: India’s Next Big Electric Star

The MG Windsor Pro, India’s best-selling EV’s upgraded version, has been spotted testing with exciting features like a larger battery for longer range and advanced safety systems for smarter driving.

MG Windsor Pro, the next chapter in India’s electric vehicle story, was recently spotted testing in Gurugram, Haryana. This upgraded version of the MG Windsor EV is already turning heads. Let’s explore what makes it so exciting.

The MG Windsor EV: A Proven Winner

Before diving into the Pro, let’s discuss the MG Windsor EV. It was launched in 2024 and has become India’s top-selling electric car, with 20,000 units sold in just six months (MG Windsor Sales).

Its sleek design, comfy interior, and eco-friendly vibe have made it a hit. But MG, under JSW MG Motor India, isn’t stopping there—they’re rolling out the Windsor Pro to take things to the next level.

What’s New with the Windsor Pro?

The Windsor Pro is like the Windsor EV’s cooler, smarter sibling. Here’s what we expect based on spy shots and industry buzz:

  • Bigger Battery, Longer Range: It’s likely to pack a 50.3 kWh battery, similar to the MG ZS EV, offering a claimed range of 460 km (2025 MG Windsor EV). That’s a big jump from the current 38 kWh battery, which gives about 340 km (ARAI certified). More range means fewer charging stops, perfect for road trips.

  • Vehicle-to-Load (V2L): This feature lets the car’s battery power external devices or even your home during power outages. Think of it as a giant power bank on wheels—great for camping or emergencies.

  • Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS): The Pro is expected to include a suite of safety features like:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control: Adjusts your speed to match traffic flow.

  • Automatic Emergency Braking: Stops the car to avoid collisions.

  • Intelligent High Beam Assist: Switches between high and low beams automatically.

  • Lane Departure Warning: Alerts you if you drift out of your lane.

  • Traffic Jam Assist: Helps with stop-and-go traffic.

  • Enhanced Performance and Interior: The larger battery could mean quicker acceleration, and the interior might get premium upgrades, like better materials or an improved infotainment system.

These features make the Windsor Pro a tech-packed, versatile EV for modern drivers.

How It Compares to the Current Windsor EV

To understand the Pro’s upgrades, let’s look at what the current MG Windsor EV offers:

FeatureMG Windsor EVMG Windsor Pro (Expected)
Battery38 kWh50.3 kWh
Range (Claimed)~340 km (ARAI)~460 km
Wheelbase2,700mm2,700mm (assumed)
Boot Space604L604L (assumed)
Key Features15.6-inch touchscreen, glass roof, wireless charging, ventilated seatsADAS, V2L, larger battery, possible interior upgrades
Safety TechStandard airbags, ABSADAS suite (adaptive cruise, emergency braking, etc.)

The current model is no slouch. It’s got a spacious cabin, a massive 15.6-inch Grandview Display, an Infinity View glass roof, 256-color ambient lighting, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and cooled front seats. Its 604L boot is perfect for family trips or shopping hauls. The Windsor Pro keeps these strengths while adding more range, safety, and utility.

When Can We Expect It?

MG hasn’t shared a launch date yet, but the fact that it’s being tested suggests it could hit showrooms in late 2025 or early 2026 (MG Windsor Pro Spied). Car enthusiasts are buzzing with excitement, and it’s easy to see why—this EV could redefine the segment.

MG’s Customer-First Approach

JSW MG Motor India is all about listening to its customers. The Windsor Pro’s upgrades, like the bigger battery and ADAS, seem to address common requests for longer range and better safety. This customer-centric approach is helping MG build a loyal fan base in India’s competitive EV market (MG Windsor Sales).

Why EVs Are a Big Deal in India

India’s roads are getting greener, and EVs are leading the charge. With rising fuel costs and pollution concerns, electric cars offer a cleaner, cheaper way to travel. The government’s FAME II scheme provides subsidies to make EVs more affordable, and charging stations are popping up across the country. The Windsor Pro, with its advanced features, is perfectly timed to ride this wave of EV adoption.

Market Impact

The Windsor Pro could shake up India’s EV market, where MG has already overtaken competitors like Tata Motors in sales (MG EV Sales). Its longer range and ADAS features might attract buyers who were on the fence about EVs, while the V2L tech could appeal to those in areas with unreliable power. Competitors like Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400 may need to step up their game.

A Peek into the Future

Imagine driving a Windsor Pro: you’re cruising down the highway with adaptive cruise control keeping things smooth, your phone’s charging wirelessly, and you know you’ve got enough range for the whole trip. If the power goes out at home, your car’s got you covered. That’s the kind of future MG is building.

In summary, the MG Windsor Pro is more than just an upgraded EV—it’s a bold step toward a smarter, greener India. With its bigger battery, advanced safety tech, and innovative V2L feature, it’s set to continue MG’s winning streak.
