MG will raise auto prices in India starting in January 2026

JSW citing increased input and operating costs, MG Motor India has confirmed a price hike across its entire range, effective from January next year. Both gasoline-powered and electric vehicles, including the brand's well-liked EVs, will be subject to the rise, which is limited to two percent. The action represents a wider trend in the industry, with precise model-wise changes to be revealed later. Before the revised prices take effect across major segments and body styles countrywide, buyers who are contemplating a purchase may benefit from year-end discounts.

  • From January 1, 2026, MG will increase pricing for all models by up to 2%.

JSW MG Motor India, the parent company of MG Motor India, has announced that it will update the prices of all of its vehicles from next year. Prices for well-known models like the Astra and Hector will increase by up to 2% as a result of this change, affecting both conventional gasoline automobiles and electric vehicles. The action is a part of a general trend in the industry where automakers are making cost adjustments to address growing input and manufacturing prices.

The notice states that the precise price increase may vary depending on the model and version, and that the updated prices will probably be released closer to the implementation date. Even MG's electric SUVs and city EVs will cost a little more next year due to the increase, which will apply to both gasoline and electric vehicles.

How This Affects Buyers

In order to avoid paying the higher rates, potential car owners may wish to finish their purchase by the end of December, as the price change is set for January 1, 2026. In order to clear inventory, car dealerships frequently offer year-end discounts and bargains. By taking advantage of these promotions, customers may be able to save even more money.

For instance, it is anticipated that popular electric models like the MG Windsor EV will increase in price by about ₹30,000 to ₹37,000, while the MG Comet EV may increase in price by about ₹10,000 to ₹20,000.

Although these adjustments represent a slight price rise, purchasers considering MG's EV lineup will still be affected by the whole cost.

Industry Setting

MG is not the only company doing this. Due to similar pricing concerns, a number of other automakers are also changing their prices at the beginning of the year. This pattern demonstrates how rising production, logistics, and raw material prices are affecting pricing choices throughout the automotive industry.
