MG June 2025 Sales: Windsor EV takes the market ownership

June Sales of MG Motor India resemble a transformation into electrification. The introduction of the new Windsor EV brought huge growth, but older ICE models, including Hector, Astor, and Gloster, have witnessed a sharp decline. These results of the brand in the second quarter confirm this market transformation even further.

The month of June 2025 ended successfully with a total of 5,829 units sold by MG Motor India, which records an increase of 25.52 percent against the 4,644 units sold in June 2024.

This was a massive increase, and it was mainly instigated by Windsor EV, a 3-row electric SUV being launched by MG as it rapidly became its bestselling product.

Nonetheless, the company registered a month-on-month (MoM) decline of 7.53 percent against the 6,304 units it registered last month of May, which indicated a temporary trend in the market.

Windsor EV: Taking the MG electrification by Charge

The Windsor EV has become the flagship and volume driver at MG, providing 3,799 units last month, or close to 65 percent of total monthly sales at the company.

Although this figure is marginally down from the 3,939 units sold in May, the Windsor retains its high place in the market as one of the few industry players that maintains high traction in the upcoming electric SUV market.

MG also saw its Comet EV, the urban small electric hatchback, improve by 856 units last month as compared to 823 units in May. It however, recorded a 34.15 percent decrease on a YoY basis which could mean saturation of the micro-vehicle segment.

ICE Models Continue Their Downward Spiral

MG’s internal combustion engine (ICE) models struggled significantly:

  • Hector dropped to 757 units, down 55.81% YoY and 31.06% MoM.

  • Astor plummeted to just 66 units, a 92.96% YoY fall.

  • Gloster sold 34 units, showing slight MoM improvement but far behind last year’s 132 units.

Even the ZS EV, which is still the pioneer electric SUV of MG, experienced a 43.49% YoY and 11.94% MoM decrease.

Q2 2025 Sales: EVs Stimulate the Growth of MG

According to Q2 CY 2025, MG Motor India registered 17,962 units, a 29.24 percent YoY rise in units compared to Q2 2024 with 13,898 units. This growth was spearheaded by the Windsor EV, which was responsible for selling 11,398 units or 64 percent of MG Q2 sales.

But the picture was not so bright in other models: Hector decreased by 47.86%, Comet EV by 46.46%, and the Astor and Gloster forms dipped by more than 90%. ZS EV dropped as well by 5.69 percent on a YoY basis.

Finally: Clear Switch toward Electrification by MG

June and Q2 sales show that MG is going very strong toward EVs with the Windsor EV serving as a powerful driver. This situation is reflected in the whole auto industry in India that is experiencing a shift towards EVs, as the ICE selection of MG is fast becoming obsolete, whereas the EV version of MG is gaining prominence on the market.
