Mercedes GLC EV: 94.5kWh Battery and 650km Range – A Game-Changer in Electric SUVs

The Mercedes GLC EV is set to debut at the Munich Motor Show with a 94.5kWh battery, offering an impressive 650km range and cutting-edge technology. This new model brings a refreshing mix of style, power, and efficiency that is sure to excite both EV fans and everyday drivers.

Mercedes GLC EV

Mercedes-Benz is all set to make waves with its latest electric SUV, the GLC EV. This model is a big deal because it not only packs a powerful 94.5kWh battery but also promises a range of over 650km on a single charge.

It will make its first appearance at the Munich Motor Show in September, marking a new chapter in Mercedes’ electric journey.

The GLC EV is designed to gradually replace the older EQC SUV. But here’s the cool part: even though it’s an electric model, its look and feel are nearly identical to the regular, combustion-engine GLC.

This means buyers can enjoy a familiar design while embracing the benefits of electric power.

New Platform, New Power

The GLC EV is the very first Mercedes to ride on the brand-new MB.EA platform—a structure made especially for electric vehicles. It will also be used for the upcoming all-electric C-Class and even a smaller G-Class off-roader coming in 2026.

One of the most exciting features is the new eATS 2.0 drivetrain. This state-of-the-art system was first shown in the Vision EQXX concept and now powers the GLC EV.

Whether you choose the rear-wheel-drive version with 272 horsepower or the all-wheel-drive model boasting 490 horsepower, you can expect an exhilarating ride that pairs power with efficiency.

Battery and Charging: Data You Can Trust

Let’s talk numbers. The heart of the GLC EV is its 94.5kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery. What does that mean for you? Here are some quick facts:

  • Range: Over 650km on a full charge

  • Charging Speed: With an 800V electrical system, you can charge up to 320kW. That’s about 260km of range in just 10 minutes!

These figures show that Mercedes is serious about combining long-range with fast charging. It means less time waiting at the charger and more time enjoying the road.

Smart Tech for a Smoother Ride

Mercedes isn’t stopping at raw power. They’ve also added smart tech to boost the GLC EV’s efficiency and comfort. A brand-new, compact heat pump makes the car’s system even more effective while creating extra space in the front trunk (frunk). More space means more room for your luggage and gadgets.

Another innovative feature is the new brake energy recuperation system. Unlike traditional brakes, this system uses a mix of regenerative braking and regular disc braking. Computers decide exactly how much braking force is needed, giving you a smooth and natural feel when slowing down. And if something goes wrong, the system quickly switches to a fallback hydraulic mode to keep you safe.

What This Means for Car Lovers

For those who love cool cars with smart tech, the new GLC EV is exciting news. It’s not just about being green—it’s about enjoying a vehicle that performs like a champ, charges fast, and has enough space for everyday needs. Even if you’re not an EV expert, the numbers speak for themselves: impressive range, powerful performance, and innovative features that are designed to keep you safe and comfortable.

And while there’s no word yet on an India launch, Mercedes has hinted at more electric models coming to various markets soon. This could mean that even more drivers around the world will soon have the chance to experience the future of driving with Mercedes-Benz.
