Maruti Swift Cng Launched In India Affordable Green Mobility With Prices Starting At Rs 8 Lakh 19 Thousand

Maruti Swift CNG Launched in India: Affordable Green Mobility with Prices Starting at Rs. 8.19 Lakh

Maruti Suzuki, India’s leading car manufacturer, has introduced the much-anticipated CNG version of its popular hatchback, the Maruti Swift with prices starting at Rs. 8.19 lakh (ex-showroom) This launch brings eco-friendly mobility to one of the country’s best-selling cars, expanding Maruti’s already impressive portfolio of CNG vehicles to a total of 14 models The Swift CNG is set to be delivered to customers beginning 12 October 2024 and it aims to cater to the increasing demand for cost-effective, fuel-efficient, and environmentally friendly transportation.

Powertrain and Fuel Efficiency

The Maruti Swift CNG is powered by a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated (NA) petrol engine In petrol mode, this engine delivers a healthy output of 80bhp and 112Nm of torque However, when switched to CNG mode, the power figures slightly dip to 69bhp and 102Nm of torque which is typical for CNG-powered vehicles.

Despite the power reduction, the Swift CNG maintains a good balance of performance and fuel efficiency. The biggest highlight of the new Swift CNG is its mileage of 32.85km/kg a six per cent improvement over the previous-generation Swift. This increase in fuel efficiency will certainly appeal to budget-conscious buyers, especially in times of fluctuating fuel prices. The Swift’s fuel efficiency in CNG mode makes it one of the most economical options in its segment for daily commuting.

The CNG variant of the Swift is paired with a five-speed manual transmission, which remains the sole gearbox option across all variants. While some buyers may wish for an automatic option, the manual transmission ensures a more affordable price point and optimal fuel consumption, making it a solid choice for city driving.

Variants and Pricing

The new Maruti Swift CNG is available in three variants, providing options for buyers with different budget constraints and feature preferences. Here is the breakdown of the pricing (all prices ex-showroom):

  • New Swift CNG VXi: Rs. 8.19 lakh

  • New Swift CNG VXi(O) : Rs. 8.46 lakh

  • New Swift CNG ZXi: Rs. 9.19 lakh

The base VXi variant provides essential features at an affordable price, while the VXi(O) and ZXi variants come with additional equipment for those looking for more comfort and convenience. With a price range that covers multiple budgets, Maruti has ensured that the Swift CNG caters to a wide audience.

Design and Features

In terms of design, the Swift CNG remains virtually identical to its petrol-powered sibling. This means that the signature sporty look, which has been a hallmark of the Swift since its inception, continues with the CNG variant. The car’s lines, floating roof design and aggressive front fascia all remain intact, ensuring that the Swift CNG retains its dynamic visual appeal.

Key exterior highlights include LED projector headlamps LED fog lights and LED taillights which not only add a premium feel to the hatchback but also improve visibility in various driving conditions. The 15-inch alloy wheels enhance the Swift’s sporty stance, ensuring it remains a head-turner on the road.

Inside, the Swift CNG is loaded with several modern features, especially in the higher-end ZXi variant. These include an inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, making it easier for drivers to connect their smartphones and access essential apps. Other comfort-enhancing features include automatic climate control, rear AC vents, and over-the-air (OTA) updates, allowing the system to receive software upgrades without the need for a dealership visit.

Despite being a CNG variant, Maruti has made no significant compromises in terms of features, ensuring that Swift CNG buyers still get a tech-rich, comfortable, and stylish hatchback.

Safety Features

When it comes to safety, the Maruti Swift CNG is equipped with several standard features to ensure a safe driving experience. The higher-end ZXi variant offers additional safety features like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD rear parking sensors and high-speed alert systems These features are crucial for ensuring the safety of both drivers and passengers, particularly in urban settings where the Swift will likely spend most of its time.

Eco-Friendly Driving

The launch of the Swift CNG is part of Maruti Suzuki’s broader commitment to providing eco-friendly mobility solutions in India. With the country’s increasing focus on reducing emissions and promoting greener transportation options, Maruti has been actively expanding its CNG portfolio. The Swift, being a popular model with millions of units sold since its introduction, is a strategic choice for the brand to offer in a CNG variant.

The Swift CNG promises lower emissions, making it an attractive option for buyers who are conscious of their environmental impact. Additionally, CNG vehicles are known for their lower running costs, which is a major advantage in cost-sensitive markets like India.

Conclusion

With the launch of the Maruti Swift CNG, the brand has once again solidified its position as a leader in the CNG space. By offering a practical, fuel-efficient, and eco-friendly option in a beloved hatchback, Maruti has ensured that the Swift remains relevant in today’s market. The car’s attractive starting price of Rs. 8.19 lakh combined with its impressive mileage and familiar features, makes it a compelling option for anyone looking for a budget-friendly and environmentally-conscious vehicle.

As the Swift CNG hits the roads in October 2024, it’s poised to attract a wide range of buyers—from first-time car owners to those looking for a reliable, efficient, and affordable daily driver. With its combination of sporty design, modern features, and outstanding fuel economy, the Swift CNG is set to be a game-changer in the CNG segment.
