Maruti Swift CNG Launched at Rs 8.20 Lakh – Price, Specs, and Features

Maruti suzuki Dzire S CNG

Maruti Suzuki has launched the Swift CNG starting at Rs 8.20 lakh (ex-showroom). Available in three trims – VXi, VXi (O), and ZXi, this marks Maruti's fourteenth CNG-powered vehicle in India. The Swift CNG is priced Rs 90,000 more than the equivalent petrol variant, making it a competitive option for fuel-efficient hatchbacks.

The Swift CNG lineup starts with the VXi variant, priced at Rs 8.20 lakh, followed by the VXi (O) at Rs 8.47 lakh. The top-spec ZXi variant, available as a CNG model for the first time, is priced at Rs 9.20 lakh. This broader price range allows Maruti to cater to varying customer demands, with a well-equipped hatchback option for those seeking higher-end features.

Engine and Performance

The Swift CNG is powered by the new Z12E petrol engine and delivers 32.85 km/kg fuel efficiency, which is 6% more than the previous K-series engine. With CNG, the engine generates 69.75hp and 101.8Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. While there is a drop in power output compared to the previous generation (77hp), torque is marginally higher. Maruti has retained the single large CNG cylinder in the boot, unlike newer twin-cylinder setups used by Hyundai and Tata.

Features and Variants

  • The VXi variant offers six airbags, ESC, remote central locking, halogen projector headlamps, 14-inch steel wheels, and power windows, making it a great entry-level option.

  • The VXi (O) adds some extras, including a height-adjustable driver’s seat, a 7-inch infotainment screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and steering-mounted controls for added convenience.

  • The ZXi variant, now available with CNG, offers a host of premium features like LED projector headlamps, 15-inch alloy wheels, wireless charging, automatic climate control, and a rear washer wiper. This variant is designed for customers who want a high-spec hatchback with a factory-fitted CNG kit.

Maruti Suzuki CNG Sales Outlook

Last year, Maruti sold around 4.77 lakh CNG vehicles, and from April to August 2024, the company sold 2.21 lakh CNG-powered cars and SUVs. With the Swift CNG's improved fuel economy and expanded price range, Maruti expects increased demand for this popular hatchback. Deliveries will begin in Gujarat, with other states to follow soon after. Gujarat, Maharashtra, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi remain the top markets for Maruti’s CNG Cars.
