Maruti Suzuki launched the Jimny 5-door at Auto Expo 2023 and publicised the fuel economy numbers during the media drive.
The 1.5-litre K15B engine that powers the Jimny 5-door produces 105 horsepower and 134.2 pound-feet of torque. A 4-speed automatic gearbox and a 5-speed manual gearbox are included in it. The SUV is fitted with Suzuki's AllGrip Pro 4WD system, which features a manual transfer case and a low-range transmission with '2WD-high', '4WD-high', and '4WD-low' modes. The Jimny 5-door is available from Maruti Suzuki in the Zeta and Alpha trim levels.
The Jimny 5-door has a manual gearbox and gets 16.94 kilometres per litre (kpl) of petrol, while the automatic gearbox model gets 16.39 kpl. The automatic Jimny can only travel 656 kilometres on a full tank, but the manual version can travel up to 678 kilometres. These figures could not accurately reflect the range in the actual world.
The automaker began reservations for the tough SUV earlier this year and has thus far taken in about 30,000 reservations. The automatic variations will have a waiting time of up to eight months after introduction, compared to a maximum waiting period of six months for the manual models. At its Gurugram factory, Maruti Suzuki recently manufactured the first Jimny 5-door. According to sources, the Jimny 5-door's costs would be revealed during the first week of June.
The Jimny 5-door is expected to be priced between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom), making it the only vehicle of its kind in its market upon debut without any direct rivals. But given its cost, placement, and off-road skills, it will face competition from the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha, among other cars.
