Maruti Patented Kei Car Ewx Small Ev In The Country

Maruti patented Kei car: eWX small EV in the country

Maruti Suzuki has finally decided to set its feet in the EV Automotive Market. It is scheduled to launch the brand’s first-ever Electric Vehicle by 2025. Maruti’s EV, which will be known as eWX was first showcased in October last year at the 2023 Tokyo Motor Show. It is reported that this small EV that Maruti has patented will be the eWX concept, a Kei car for the Japanese market, which could also be introduced in India.

Dimensions and Specifications:

The Suzuki eWX will reportedly measure 3,395 mm in length, 1,475 mm in width, and 1,620 mm in height, making it even shorter than the S-Presso currently available in the Indian market. While Maruti has not revealed the interior or technical specifications of the eWX, it is anticipated that a battery pack and a single electric motor would power the vehicle, which has a 230 km stated range.

According to the patent application, the production model of the eWX will look a lot like the concept, with a distinctive grille blanked out, lights piled vertically on the bumper, ORVMs located on the A-pillar, unusual wheels with squared inserts, and no B-pillars. The windshield that extends into the roof is one of the most remarkable characteristics, giving the vehicle a unique appearance.

Maruti Suzuki's EV Revolution

Maruti Suzuki is that specific car brand renowned for its cautious adoption of new technology and has revealed its ambitions for India's electric car market. The eVX electric SUV concept was showcased at the Auto Expo 2023, marking the beginning of Maruti's EV revolution in the country. The eWX patent filing is another step in this direction, as Maruti aims to expand its electric vehicle lineup.

Competition and Launch Timeline

The Suzuki eWX will go up against the Citroen eC3, Tata Tiago EV, and MG Comet EV if it is introduced in India. The eWX might not be available until late 2025 or early 2026, while Maruti's first electric vehicle, the eVX, is anticipated to make its market debut in India in the first part of 2024. The eWX's launch schedule has not yet been confirmed by the corporation.
