Maruti Grand Vitara Crosses 2 Lakh Sales Milestone Within Two Years Of Its Launch

The Maruti Grand Vitara, launched in September 2022 as the carmaker's first strong-hybrid model in India, has achieved the significant milestone of crossing 2 lakh sales in just two years. Maruti managed to sell 1 lakh units within the first year and an additional lakh in the following 10 months. The strong hybrid and CNG variants have proven to be the most popular choices among buyers.

An Overview Of The Maruti SUV

Introduced as part of Maruti's partnership with Toyota, the Grand Vitara replaced the aging S-Cross in Maruti's Nexa lineup. The Grand Vitara is available in six broad variants: Sigma, Delta, Zeta, Zeta Plus, Alpha, and Alpha Plus.

Features and Safety

The Grand Vitara boasts a range of features including:

  • A 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay

  • A 7-inch digital driver's display

  • Automatic climate control with rear vents

  • Wireless phone charging

  • Ventilated front seats

  • Panoramic sunroof

For safety, it is equipped with:

  • Six airbags

  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC)

  • A 360-degree camera

  • ISOFIX child anchorages

  • Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

Powertrains

The Grand Vitara offers multiple powertrain options:

  • A 1.5-liter petrol mild-hybrid unit producing 103 PS and 136.8 Nm, paired with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The top-spec manual variant also offers an all-wheel drive (AWD) option.

  • A 1.5-litre petrol strong-hybrid unit producing a combined output of 115.56 PS and 122 Nm, available with an e-CVT gearbox.

  • A CNG powertrain option, producing 87.83 PS and 121.5 Nm, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.

Price and Rivals

The Maruti Grand Vitara is priced between Rs 10.99 lakh to Rs 20.09 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It competes with several other models in the compact SUV segment, including:
