Breaking Records: Maruti Grand Vitara Hits 2.5 Lakh Sales Milestone
Maruti Suzuki’s flagship SUV, the Grand Vitara, has crossed an impressive milestone, with 2.5 lakh units sold since its launch on September 26, 2022. This achievement cements its position as one of the fastest-selling models in the competitive midsize SUV segment. The Grand Vitara reached the 1,00,000 and 2,00,000-unit milestones faster than any other SUV in its class and achieved this latest milestone in just over two years.
In November 2024 alone, the Grand Vitara registered 10,148 units, contributing to its cumulative sales of 2,52,466 units. It now accounts for a significant 17 percent of Maruti’s UV sales from April to November 2024, showcasing its dominance in the market.
Dominating the Nexa Lineup
The Grand Vitara is retailed through Maruti’s premium Nexa sales channel and has become the bestselling Nexa SUV to date. It outperformed the Fronx compact SUV, launched in April 2023, by selling 12,589 units more. This strong sales performance highlights its appeal among premium SUV buyers, reinforcing its position as a customer favorite.
Powertrain Versatility: Catering to All Needs
A key factor behind the Grand Vitara’s success is its diverse powertrain options, which include mild-hybrid, strong-hybrid, and CNG variants. The SUV is equipped with the following:
103hp, 1.5-litre K15C petrol mild-hybrid engine: Shared with other Maruti models like the Brezza and Ertiga, this engine comes with a 5-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
92hp, 1.5-litre Atkinson cycle petrol engine with hybrid tech: Developed in collaboration with Toyota, this powertrain, paired with an electric motor, offers a combined output of 116hp and delivers an impressive mileage of 27.97kpl.
CNG option: Further expanding its appeal, this eco-friendly variant attracts buyers seeking cost-effective alternatives.
The Grand Vitara is available in 12 variants, priced between Rs 10.99 lakh and Rs 19.93 lakh (ex-showroom).
Redefining the Midsize SUV Segment
The Grand Vitara’s robust design, advanced hybrid technology, and competitive pricing have set new benchmarks in the midsize SUV category. By bettering rivals like the Hyundai Creta in sales milestones, the Grand Vitara has proven its market dominance, making it a key driver of Maruti Suzuki’s success in India.
