The Maruti Suzuki Fronx has reached a significant milestone by topping India's car sales charts for the first time in February 2025. The compact SUV coupe recorded impressive domestic sales of 21,461 units, representing a substantial year-on-year growth of nearly 51.5% compared to February 2024, when it sold 14,168 units and ranked tenth in the sales standings.
In this strong performance, the Fronx outpaced several popular models, including the Maruti Suzuki WagonR, which it surpassed by approximately 1,600 units. Other prominent models trailing behind the Fronx included the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Swift, and Maruti Suzuki Baleno.
This latest achievement adds to Fronx's impressive track record in the Indian market. Last year, it became India's fastest passenger vehicle to cross the one lakh sales milestone, accomplishing this feat in just 10 months after its launch.

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx first made its global debut at the 2023 Auto Expo before officially launching in April 2023. Currently priced between Rs. 7.52 lakh and Rs. 13.04 lakh (ex-showroom), the model offers two engine options. Its combination of high ground clearance and sporty design has made it particularly appealing to younger buyers.
One of the Fronx's key highlights is the reintroduction of the 1.0-litre turbo Boosterjet engine to Maruti Suzuki's lineup after a significant hiatus. The CNG variant, boasting an impressive claimed fuel efficiency of 28.51 km per kg, has also gained substantial popularity among fuel-conscious buyers, as have the automatic transmission variants.
Beyond its domestic success, the Fronx has established a global presence with exports to multiple international markets including Latin America, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.

The Fronx might soon expand its powertrain options. Recent spy shots have captured what appears to be a hybrid test prototype, suggesting the potential introduction of an in-house developed strong hybrid system. This new variant could potentially deliver fuel efficiency exceeding 35 kmpl, although Maruti Suzuki has not yet announced this development.
With its continued sales momentum and potential technological advancements on the horizon, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx appears poised to maintain its strong position in India's competitive automotive market.
