Mahindra has made a stunning entry into the premium electric SUV segment with its latest BE 6 and XEV 9e models, which amassed a record-breaking ₹8,472 crore in bookings on the first day of launch.
With 30,179 bookings registered, Mahindra has cemented its place in India’s growing EV landscape, proving that demand for high-end electric SUVs is stronger than ever.
Unprecedented Demand for Mahindra’s Electric SUVs
The response to Mahindra’s Electric Origin SUVs is nothing short of spectacular, considering that India’s total EV passenger vehicle sales in 2024 were around 1 lakh units. The demand was almost equally split, with XEV 9e securing 56% (16,900 bookings) and BE 6 receiving 44% (13,279 bookings).
Notably, the XEV 9e broke the record set by the MG Windsor EV, which had registered 15,000 bookings on its launch day. Despite being a significantly higher-priced offering, Mahindra’s electric SUV outperformed expectations, reinforcing consumer interest in premium EVs.
Strong Preference for Top Variants
A key takeaway from the bookings is the overwhelming preference for high-end models. A whopping 73% of customers opted for the Pack Three variant, which features a 79 kWh battery pack, offering a longer driving range and premium features.
The BE 6 and XEV 9e come with two battery options:
59 kWh variant – 231 hp, 380 Nm torque
79 kWh variant – 286 hp, 380 Nm torque
These SUVs also boast best-in-class ARAI-certified range, with the BE 6 offering up to 682 km and the XEV 9e delivering up to 656 km on a single charge.
Phased Delivery Timeline
Mahindra has outlined a phased delivery plan for both models:
Top-end Pack Three variants – Deliveries start mid-March 2025
Pack Three Select variants – Available from June 2025
Pack Two variants – Deliveries from July 2025
Pack One variants – Expected August 2025
Customers will receive tentative delivery updates within three weeks, ensuring transparency throughout the process.
