Mahindra Xev 9e Debuts A High Tech Long Range Electric Coupe Suv Priced At Rs 21 Lakh 90 Thousand

Mahindra XEV 9e Debuts: A High-Tech, Long-Range Electric Coupe-SUV Priced at Rs 21.90 Lakh

Mahindra has entered the premium electric SUV segment with the launch of the XEV 9e, an all-electric coupe-SUV starting at an introductory price of Rs 21.90 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base Pack One variant. This sleek and tech-packed SUV is underpinned by the brand’s cutting-edge INGLO born-EV platform and offers two battery options tailored to suit different driving needs.

Deliveries are expected to commence by February or March 2025, and Mahindra will reveal the full pricing lineup in January 2025, just before the model reaches showrooms.

Dimensions and Design: Sleek, Futuristic, and Premium

The Mahindra XEV 9e is a head-turner with its striking coupe-SUV design. Measuring 4,790mm in length, it is longer than the Mahindra XUV700, with a wheelbase of 2,775mm, ensuring ample cabin space. Its ground clearance of 207mm and a turning diameter of 10 meters balance practicality with maneuverability.

The front features a blanked-out grille and a sleek LED light bar that spans the width of the SUV, connecting the modern headlight clusters. Piano black elements accentuate its premium appeal, complemented by flush door handles and a muscular shoulder line. The rear sports slim, connected LED tail-lights positioned under the boot spoiler, adding to its futuristic aesthetics.

The XEV 9e rolls on 19-inch aero-optimized alloy wheels wrapped in 245/55 R19 tyres, with optional 20-inch alloys available for those seeking an added visual flair. The illuminated 'infinity Mahindra' logo, a hallmark of the brand’s EV lineup, proudly adorns the front and rear of the SUV.

Feature-Rich Interior: Technology Meets Comfort

Inside, the Mahindra XEV 9e offers a luxurious and tech-driven experience. The highlight is the three 12.3-inch screens that provide crisp visuals with 1920x720 resolution and run Mahindra’s Adrenox software. The two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel features an illuminated logo, while the cabin’s minimalist design incorporates cutting-edge switchgear and an electronic parking brake.

Passenger comfort is prioritized with a 665-litre boot and a 150-litre frunk, providing ample storage for long journeys. Higher variants come equipped with features like a panoramic sunroof, a 1,400W 16-speaker Harman Kardon system with Dolby Atmos, a head-up display (HUD), and advanced safety aids including Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, and blind spot monitoring.

The in-car connectivity suite, powered by Mahindra’s MAIA (Artificial Intelligence Architecture), is a technological marvel. It boasts 220k DMIPS, 51 TOPS, and runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8295 chipset supported by 24GB RAM and 128GB storage. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6.0, Bluetooth 5.2, and 5G capability, ensuring seamless digital integration.

Powertrain and Battery Options: Performance Meets Efficiency

The Mahindra XEV 9e is powered by the brand’s compact three-in-one powertrain, integrating the motor, inverter, and transmission. Buyers can choose between two battery options:

  • 79kWh battery: Offers an MIDC range of 655km (533km on WLTP), with a real-world range exceeding 500km. The rear-mounted motor generates 286hp and 380Nm, accelerating from 0-100kph in 6.8 seconds.

  • 59kWh battery: Delivers an MIDC range of 542km with a motor producing 231hp.

The 79kWh variant supports ultra-fast charging, topping up from 20 to 80 percent in 20 minutes using a 175kW DC fast charger. For home charging, the 79kWh battery takes 8 hours with an 11kW charger, while the smaller battery tops up fully in 6 hours.

Packed with Safety and Convenience Features

Even the entry-level Pack One variant of the XEV 9e comes well-equipped. It includes 6 airbags, a reverse camera, an electronic parking brake, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). Other standard features are wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car tech, and automatic climate control with rear AC vents.

For higher trims, Mahindra adds premium touches like park assist, which automates parking, and a brake-by-wire system that ensures precise braking performance. With front and rear disc brakes, the XEV 9e can decelerate from 100kph to a standstill in just 40 meters.

A Game-Changer in the Electric SUV Market

With its competitive pricing, futuristic design, and advanced technology, the Mahindra XEV 9e is set to shake up the electric SUV segment in India. Its impressive range, rapid charging capabilities, and luxurious interiors make it a compelling choice for eco-conscious buyers seeking a premium EV experience.

The Mahindra XEV 9e is more than just a car—it’s a bold statement of the brand’s commitment to innovation and sustainability. As it hits the roads in 2025, this coupe-SUV promises to set new benchmarks for electric mobility in India.
