Mahindra to deliver around 3,000 electric origin SUVs with waiting periods up to 6 months

Mahindra marked a major milestone in its electric journey by delivering more than 3,000 units of its all-electric Origin SUVs—XEV 9e and BE 6 —since deliveries started on March 20, 2025. The announcement is a good beginning for Mahindra's next-gen EV portfolio, underscoring increasing customer confidence and excitement for electric mobility.

Both the BE 6 and XEV 9e have been in extremely high demand since their launch in the market, with most clients going for the range-topping Pack Three option.

The existing booking statistics reflect a 59% demand for the XEV 9e and 41% for the BE 6. Due to the high demand, waiting periods now reach a maximum of six months in chosen areas. To counter this, Mahindra is ramping up deliveries nationwide to minimize waiting times and provide a seamless ownership experience.

Introduction of new “Default” drive mode

In a customer-focused initiative, Mahindra has unveiled a new 'Default' drive mode specifically for first-time EV buyers. The mode mimics the driving feel of internal combustion vehicles, easing the shift to electric to be smoother, more natural, and directly comfortable for new buyers.

Also, every origin SUV delivery comes with carefully curated videos that guide customers through EV best practices—everything from efficient charging methods to maximizing driving range and learning the vehicle's sophisticated connected features. These guides are designed to enable customers to maximize their electric SUVs from day one.

Mahindra India Design Studio

Mahindra has recently commissioned its brand-new Mahindra India Design Studio (MIDS) in Mumbai, representing a huge step up in its design strength. The new facility is twice the size of the old one and features the latest design technologies, combining digital media with hands-on craftsmanship.

As a primary creative center both for the Indian domestic market and overseas markets, MIDS will work very closely with Mahindra Advanced Design Europe (MADE) in the UK. With an expanding product lineup in Auto, Farm, and Last Mile Mobility, the new design studio will be responsible for defining Mahindra's next-generation products, including the new electric Origin SUVs XEV 9e and BE 6, which make waves with their bold, globally relevant design language that redefines how Indian cars are perceived.

Mahindra's over 3,000 record deliveries of the Origin electric SUV in weeks since its launch is a huge leap for its EV drive.
