Lets Take A Look At The Updated Land Rover Defender

Let’s take a look at the updated Land Rover Defender

The Land Rover Defender lineup has undergone significant changes in international markets, introducing a luxurious new three-row version, a more powerful diesel engine, and a plug-in hybrid variant featuring a three-cylinder engine.

This update arrives four years after the debut of the L663-generation Defender. While not a complete facelift, the revamped lineup includes essential mechanical and cosmetic adjustments, along with a reorganization of the trim configurations.

One of the main enhancements is the replacement of the D300 diesel engine with the more potent D350 from the Range Rover series. The new engine boosts power and torque output to 350hp and 700Nm, respectively, providing a seamless and powerful driving experience, particularly in overtaking and towing situations. The updated P400 Ingenium petrol engine, a supercharged 5.0-litre V8 with 425hp, replaces the previous straight-six petrol variant. Additionally, the plug-in hybrid Defender now features the P300e setup, utilizing a 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine. This configuration, combined with electric motors, delivers a total output of 310hp.

These changes were made to ensure the Defender's compliance with Euro 6e emissions regulations, hinting at potential changes in the powertrain lineup across other Land Rover models in international markets.

Notable cabin upgrades include the introduction of the Captain Chairs pack for the three-row Defender 130, offering individual armchairs with added comfort features. The company has also introduced a new 'Sedona' edition of the 110 model, featuring bespoke red paintwork and exclusive trim details inspired by the rocky landscape of Sedona, Arizona.

The Defender is now available in select trims such as S, X-Dynamic SE, X-Dynamic HSE, X, and V8 variants, offering choices of 90, 110, and 130 body styles in international markets.

As for India, the availability of these updated Defender variants is yet to be confirmed. Currently, Land Rover offers the Defender in 90, 110, and 130 body styles in India, with prices starting from Rs 98.5 lakh, Rs 97 lakh, and Rs 1.39 crore, respectively. The range features five powertrain options, including turbo-petrol, diesel, V8 petrol, and a petrol-plug-in hybrid variant, catering to diverse preferences among Indian consumers.
