Land Rover Defender Classic Revived Via Bespoke Division

Land Rover Defender Classic Revived via Bespoke Division

Land Rover has officially announced the revival of the Defender Classic through its Bespoke division. Although production of the Defender Classic ended in 2016, it still enjoys a large global fan base. To satisfy the demand from enthusiasts who wish to experience the classic Defender, Land Rover's Bespoke division will now produce these vehicles on a made-to-order basis.

What is the Land Rover Defender Classic?

The revived Defender Classic is essentially a restomod based on existing Classic Defender donor vehicles produced between 2012 and 2016. These vehicles are upgraded with modern features, chassis enhancements, and extensive personalization options, depending on customer specifications. Available in both 90 and 110 body styles, all units will be meticulously "remastered" by Land Rover Classic engineers.

Customization Options

Buyers of the Defender Classic can customize their vehicle with a wide range of options. Exterior colors can be selected from the Heritage, Contemporary, Premium, and SV Metallic palettes, or customers can opt for the Bespoke match-to-sample service. A contrast roof is also available, along with exterior accents in silver or black. The grille can be personalized with various design themes, including Heritage, Standard, or Adventure, and modern LED headlamps replace the traditional halogen units.

The Defender Classic can be equipped with either 16-inch 'Wolf' or 18-inch 'Sawtooth' alloy wheels. Additional features include side steps, a roof rack, an expedition cage, a ladder, roof-mounted lights, and a winch. For those looking to take their Defender Classic on camping trips, a roof-mounted tent is also available.

Interior and Technology

Inside, the Defender Classic receives a complete overhaul with leather upholstery options available in five single-tone and eight dual-tone schemes. Premium seating options include Recaro seats. While the interior design retains the original Defender’s look, it now features a 3.5-inch touchscreen system with Bluetooth, navigation, and DAB radio functionality. The SUV also comes with a redesigned gear selector featuring gloss black inserts.

Powertrain and Performance

The Defender Classic restomods are powered by a standard 5.0-litre AJ V8 engine producing 400hp, paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox by ZF that sends power to all four wheels. Suspension upgrades include revised Eibach coil springs, uprated anti-roll bars, and Bilstein dampers. The vehicle is also equipped with performance-oriented four-piston Alcon brakes with larger discs for enhanced stopping power.

Pricing

Due to its bespoke nature, the Classic Defender V8 comes with a premium price tag. The Bespoke Defender Classic range starts at £190,000 and goes up to £204,000 (approximately Rs 2.24 crore), excluding additional customization options.
