Kia Sonet Htx Diesel Imt Long Term Report Introduction

Kia Sonet HTX+ Diesel iMT Long-Term Report: Introduction

Long-Term Report 1 : The Kia Sonet is back in the garage, this time in its diesel iMT variant. After our initial experience with the diesel manual version in 2020, we're excited to see how this clutchless manual version performs. The diesel iMT aims to offer the control of a manual without the hassle of a clutch pedal, fitting seamlessly into an increasingly automatic market.

Our Goals with the Kia Sonet Diesel iMT

This time around, our primary focus is on determining if Kia has enhanced its already feature-rich compact SUV and addressed previous feedback. Additionally, we aim to evaluate the iMT gearbox—whether it truly combines the best of both worlds or if it's simply a well-marketed gimmick targeting modern buyers looking for extra control without the inconvenience of a traditional manual.

We'll start by testing the Sonet in city traffic before taking it on longer highway drives. Our review will cover its features, how it stands up to intense usage, and how the dual-tone interior ages over time.

Kia Sonet Diesel iMT: Quick Specs

The HTX+ diesel iMT variant we're testing is equipped with a 1.5-litre diesel engine producing 114bhp and 250 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed iMT. Key features include six airbags, 16-inch alloy wheels, a sunroof, dual digital screens, a 7-speaker Bose sound system, and stylish black and brown upholstery.
