Joy Of Joys The Hyundai N Vision 74 Is Confirmed For Production

Joy of Joys! The Hyundai N Vision 74 is Confirmed for Production

Better get your hydrogen reserves topped up, folks, because Hyundai is set to bring its wild N Vision 74 into production in the coming years. This thrilling news was revealed during the brand’s 2024 Investor Day, where Hyundai confirmed plans to release as many as 21 cars by 2030—sneaking in a small but crucial mention of the N Vision 74. Thought we’d miss that, aye Hyundai?

The N Vision 74 is based on the iconic Pony Coupe concept from 1974—hence the ‘74’ in its name. The design is a tribute to the legendary Italian designer Giorgetto Giugiaro, the mastermind behind classics like the BMW M1, Maserati Merak, and De Tomaso Mangusta, among others.

The family resemblance with the Pony Coupe is unmistakable: rectangular lights, thick B-pillars, a sharp roofline, and clean, straight body lines. However, the Vision 74 takes this 50-year-old design and gives it a modern twist with a touch of “Need For Speed” flair. The result? A stunning machine with a massive body kit, an imposing rear wing, and more air ducts than a ventilation warehouse.

These design elements aren't just for show. They’ll play a crucial role in keeping the car's rumored 670bhp (and 664 lb-ft of torque) powertrain running cool. At the heart of this beast lies a fuel cell system, flanked by two 4.2kg hydrogen tanks and a 62.4kWh battery. And if that’s not impressive enough, the Vision 74 is expected to boast a boost pressure of seven hundred bar of PSI. Yes, that’s enough to make even the most modified Supra clans jealous.

But it’s not all about raw power and aggressive styling. The Vision 74 comes equipped with a fully operational dashboard, complete with controls for the air conditioning and wiper blades. Why, you ask, if this is supposed to be Hyundai’s most visceral creation yet? Because the Vision 74 aims to push the boundaries of what’s possible with hydrogen technology, while still being practical enough for everyday use. After all, it's still a Hyundai, and that means it has to be functional in the real world.

While we’re eagerly awaiting more than just a slideshow teaser, it’s almost certain now that the Vision 74 will be a key part of Hyundai’s future lineup. So, seriously, stop messing around and start figuring out how to store hydrogen already!
