Imagine a car that has been on a world tour- From Paris to Monaco and now in Mumbai!
Yes, that is the new concept car of Jaguar: Type 00 EV. It was globally unveiled last December and will be showcased in Mumbai on June 14 at the Jio Convention Centre.
The Jaguar Type 00 isn’t just another concept—it’s a visual and technological representation of Jaguar’s new brand identity, built on the innovative Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA) platform.
According to the British marque, the car is designed under the philosophy of "Copy Nothing," reflecting its bold, original design ethos.
A Distinctive New Look
Design-wise, the Type 00 takes a sharp departure from Jaguar’s traditionally sleek, elegant styling. The concept features an elongated bonnet, coupe-style roofline, upright nose, and prominent wheels, giving it a futuristic and somewhat unconventional profile.
For the Indian audience, the vehicle will be showcased in a striking shade of blue, ensuring it leaves a memorable impression.
While the design has stirred mixed reactions globally, it clearly aligns with Jaguar’s strategy to differentiate its new EV lineup from anything it has produced before. The Type 00 is bold, unique, and designed to stand apart in an increasingly competitive electric vehicle market.
Exceptional Range and Charging Capabilities
Beyond aesthetics, the Type 00 concept is expected to deliver an impressive 770km range on the WLTP cycle. That’s more than sufficient for long-distance travel, easily covering routes like Mumbai to Goa on a single charge.
Additionally, the concept supports ultra-fast charging, capable of adding approximately 321km of range in just 15 minutes, further enhancing its appeal to premium EV buyers who value both performance and convenience.
From Concept to Production
The Type 00 is not a one-off display model. Jaguar has confirmed that a 4-door GT version based on this concept will be the first of its next-generation electric vehicles, launching in global markets by late 2025. The India launch is expected to follow soon after, potentially by late 2026 or early 2027.
This upcoming GT model will sit at the top of Jaguar’s all-electric lineup, but more accessible EVs will also be introduced to cater to a wider audience. The goal is to reposition Jaguar as a modern, luxurious EV brand with a distinct identity and cutting-edge technology.
Jaguar’s Vision for India
Bringing the Type 00 concept to India underscores the brand’s recognition of the growing importance of the Indian EV market. As Jaguar phases out existing internal combustion models like the F-Pace, its focus on luxury electric vehicles signals confidence in India's readiness for premium EV adoption.
Overall, the showcase in Mumbai serves as a statement that Jaguar’s future is not only electric but also bold, visionary, and global in scope.
