Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) reported a strong performance in August 2024, showcasing their growing presence in the automobile market. In August alone, Hyundai sold a total of 63,175 units. Out of these, 49,525 units were sold domestically, while 13,650 units were exported to different markets across the globe. This impressive figure demonstrates Hyundai’s steady growth and its ability to attract a wide range of customers.
A Steady Growth Throughout 2024
From January to August 2024, Hyundai has achieved total sales of 5,13,510 units. This reflects a year-on-year growth of 2.06%, a notable achievement considering the competitive landscape of the automobile industry. The consistent demand for Hyundai vehicles in both domestic and international markets highlights the brand’s appeal and reliability. This steady growth indicates that Hyundai's strategies are working effectively, making it a significant player in the Indian automobile market.
SUVs Lead the Way in Domestic Sales
A major contributor to Hyundai's success this year has been its lineup of SUVs. These sporty and versatile vehicles have proven to be a hit among Indian consumers. In fact, SUVs accounted for a massive 66.8% of Hyundai's domestic sales in 2024. Models like the CRETA, VENUE, and EXTER have become favorites among car buyers, and they continue to drive Hyundai's sales figures upwards. The popularity of these SUVs is likely due to their combination of style, comfort, and advanced features, making them suitable for both city driving and long journeys.
Upcoming Launches to Boost Festive Sales
Looking ahead, Hyundai is not resting on its laurels. The company is preparing to launch the bold new Hyundai ALCAZAR, which will be available in both 6-seater and 7-seater options. This new SUV is expected to add another feather to Hyundai's cap, especially with the upcoming festive season in India. The festive season is traditionally a time when car sales surge, and Hyundai is gearing up to capture this demand with its new offering. The ALCAZAR is anticipated to receive a warm response, further solidifying Hyundai's position in the SUV segment.
A Word from the Top
Tarun Garg, the full-time director and Chief Operating Officer at HMIL, shared his thoughts on the company's performance. He noted that SUVs have been the key growth drivers for Hyundai in 2024. "SUVs, led by models like CRETA, VENUE, and EXTER, remain a key growth driver for HMIL in 2024, contributing 66.8% to domestic sales. We are soon going to launch the bold new 6 and 7-seater SUV, Hyundai ALCAZAR, and we are confident of a strong festive season response to this new launch," he said. His optimism reflects Hyundai's confidence in its current and future lineup, as well as its strategy to capture more market share.

By understanding market trends and customer preferences, Hyundai has positioned itself as a leader in the automotive sector. With the upcoming launch of the Hyundai ALCAZAR and the strong market presence of its current SUV models, Hyundai is well-prepared to capitalize on the festive season and continue its growth trajectory in India.
