Hyundai India has launched an entry-level variant of the Hyundai Aura automatic version: Hyundai Aura S AMT priced at 8.07 lakhs (ex-showroom). This new model is a strategic introduction to help Hyundai hold ground in the compact sedan market, as it will be one of the cheapest available units, which has an automatic transmission.
Specs and Design
The Aura S AMT has been fitted with a Hyundai Aura 1.2-litre petrol engine that gives 82bhp maximum power and 114Nm of torque. The S AMT version comes with a 5-speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT), which makes driving quite easy but without losing out on fuel consumption. It mechanically has the same specifications as its manual version, called the Aura S MT, and is 70,000 rupees higher priced.
As far as features are concerned, the Aura S AMT is not bad. It is fitted with 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs), Highline Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and ORVMs of the vehicle with turn signals electrically adjusted.
Price & Competition
Value for money is the standout point here. The Aura S AMT is already the cheapest automatic sedan in the country at the price of 8.07 lakh. Competition among its key competitors, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire AMT (8.34 lakh) and the Honda Amaze CVT (9.39 lakh) is also friendly since both these cars are dearer. The Tigor is a segment below the Tata Tigor AMT that undercuts it with a 7.35 lakh price mark.
Tarun Garg, Whole-Time Director and Chief Operating Officer of Hyundai Motor India Ltd. spoke on the launch, saying, the Aura S AMT is a demonstration of our inclination to democratise technology. We want to increase the availability of smart mobility and convenience in India with this.”
This new variant should expand the popularity of the Aura, particularly to those people who use cars in the cities and are first time users of automatic cars and seek to have an affordable car with many aspects on offer.
